Foster to adoption seems to take forever!!

We have a 2 1/2 y/o foster son that we have had since he was 14 months. We have had him longer then his birth families. Anyways it seems to be taking FOREVER. We started the adoption stuff about 10 months ago and now they are saying it wont be until October before we are through. Is this normal? We have been through current care taker, home study, ** reliqunished in Oct and they have done 2/3 publishcations for BF. BGM is causing so many problems and I just want it over with. We are becoming CCT on our FD and I am praying it goes faster then this one. Does anyone have any advice for this impatient FM?

It took almost 1 1/2 yrs to get to tpr, then almost another 1 1/2 yrs to finalize. Once it's over it will feel all the better bc you will appreciate the adoption so much more! This coming from an adoptive parent of ELEVEN days!

it took 16 months for tpr of bmom (which was voluntary) then an additional 10 months for tpr of bdad (a man who had only seen my son 1 or 2 times in his whole life). finally 28 monhts after my beautiful son was placed in my home, he was officially adopted. i found that once there was a 99% chance that adoption was eventually going to happen, it was easier to relax and i let the lawyers and sw's take care of the rest. i just went along as if he was already adopted and it made the waiting for it to be official easier. good luck and congrats!

Current Care Taker????

Fostermom2002,

I have not seen the term Current Care Taker before. What does this refer to? And what state are you in?

Thanks!
Lynn
