Question How long for license?

We filled out our inital paperwork and have our informational meeting/orientation on Tuesday night and then someone is coming by Wednesday afternoon to fill out our paperwork and schedule an orientation interview (?) I think she called it.
How long is the preocess from there? I was hoping to have a little one to give a GREAT Christmas to...is that out-of-the-question - time-wise?
I enjoy this board and look forward to your responses!
Michelle.....
patiently awaiting a little one to add to our family

I would think it is unrealistic to think you could have one by Christmas (but I have heard in some instances licenses getting pushed because a child was waiting - but usually that child has a relationship with the fp-to-be). Didn't they mention any training? Here it is 3 hours a week for 10 weeks. Then there are the home inspections, the interviews, references, health and fire inspections to schedule. Usually the process is 6-12 months. And then there is the wait for the call that there is a child that needs a home that fits your profile. Look around this board, some people wait a while before getting 'the call'. Good luck, it is worth the wait.

We went to our orientation in the middle of September, and we are not going to finish our classes until the end of December. I doubt we'll even get licensed until the 1st of the year, much less get a placement.

I would say that there is no way you will even come close to that Christmas baby wish... sorry.

Overly excited

HAHA!
What a silly one I am!!!
I was completely forgetting that we had to fit the training in there!
I KNEW that we had to do training but for some reason I got it into my head that it would be great to have a baby for Christmas and BOOM I got all side-tracked!!
Thank you all for setting me straight!!!!
HAHAHA
Sorry for my lapse in reasoning!!!
