Yes, you have to know the password. Just kidding. If you are in the KC metro area there is a really good foster/adoption support group that is very helpful. If you are in that area, post back and I'll send you their number so you can join. I'll try to post it tomorrow, anyway incase someone else wants it.

My wife found this really good code. It goes like this:
"May I speak to the supervisor please?" Here's another good one my wife found: "About what time will the supervisor be able to call me at home?"

Thank you for the jokes. They really made me smile and that is something that is hard to do right now.
As far as the KC area we live in SPringfield and it is about 4 hours to KC but thank you for your support.

Foster Info
I saw your post under Missouri Foster Adopt. You've probably already been told thise, but I'm a late comer to the party ;-) Contact your local DFS office and ask to speak with the foster/adopt worker. In Missouri, you must go through the STARS foster training first (27 hours/9 weeks). Then, if approved, you can take the Spaulding adoption training (10 hours).
I don't know how it is around the rest of the state, but all the homes in the surrounding counties in our area are full. So, there is a great need for additional foster and foster-adopt homes. Just to give you an idea on the time frame involved. We began our STARS training the end of July and now we are just waiting for the completed homestudy to be sent to our local DFS office. We have been told that we are approved, but all the info needs to be entered into the computer and it needs to be reviewed to make sure there are no outstanding questions. Everything is supposed to be completed by the end of the month - YIKES! that's next week. I figure it will probably be at least a couple of weeks after that. We've already met our foster worker - just one of the perks of living in a rural community. In our local office, the workers wear many hats (intake, apprehend, after hours hotline, foster, adopt, case, etc.) - only two workers in our county. Good luck on your journey. |
