Any ideas for gentle movies for 3 yo?

Does anyone know of any movies I can watch with a very sensitive 3 yo? Stewart Little 2 scared her into tears, Finding Nemo terrified her (got through 10 minutes and had to give up - the diver was what did it), Beauty at the Beast gives her nightmares about the beast. If someone is scared or overly 'evil' she just sobs and tears stream down her face. It's pitiful to watch and she'll talk about what bothered her for days after. I'm running out of movies for her other that Wiggles and Barney. We did Mary Poppins and Sound of Music, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (she didn't freak out too bad about the bad guy). I can't thing of anything else for her. She wants to see Brother Bear but I know she won't last through it. HELP! Disney is too scary for her - what is left???

Try the PBS videos- veggie tales, comfy couch, or sing a long videos. The Rugrat's movie might work. Some of the old shows like Little Rascals or Shirley Temple could be worth a look too.

The Elephant Show

was what my daughter loved at 3

She was/is sensitive too!

These shows are song and dance and humour and animals ...
very tame; very interactive

There is a lot out there besides the standard commercial movies. Check out your library for kid movies.

Franklin videos are even keeled.

My little gal loved a video series called Preschool Power (ages 1-6). They are about little kids doing real things, zipping, jacket flips, pouring, cooking, dancing and so on. Absolutely not smart alecky or scary. It would be fun to have just the first one, or it would be worthwhile to get all nine and share with other moms.

Also, remember kids don't really and truly have to watch TV, movies or videos!!! Nowadays sometimes we forget that.

hi step

maybe your little girl just isnt ready for movies yet
have you tried other activities instead - reading books together or mabe doign some crafts together - ther eare lots of crafts yo can do with a 3 year old or bakign cookies

Just a thought I dont think movies and/or tv are all that important or necessary for a 3 year old most wont remember what they saw anyhow (unless it scared them like your little girl)

I think i woujld stay away from movies and tv for a while and find activities you can really enjoy together.

I used to do crafts with my nieces and nephews at that age so if you would like some ideas feel free to send me a PM and I'll get the info to you

good luck

hugs
snowy

Hi,

Franklin the Turtle, Angelina Ballerina, Sesame Street (my kids LOVED Elmo) and Dora the Explorer are all non-violent and bad-guy free. Nothing scary. Also non-threatening, but infinitely annoying LOL, are the Wiggles and Teletubbies
