Question gift ideas

We are invited to a adoption party and don't know what kind of gift to get! One for child, parents or family. I would love any ideas you have.

Picture frames and photo albums are great. So are gift certificates to photography studios like Picture People.

Membership to the local zoo, children's museum, other museum or local family attraction are great gifts too - we got memberships for Christmas last year and use them all the time.

family gifts like the ones tobefamily suggested are a great idea. some said there is an adoption precious moment (if they are into that type of thing). if you are into scrap booking you could make a small scrap book with already designed pages for the parents to add pictures to. some of my family wants to get my son savings bonds or stock or money for college fund (just like they may have done at the time of his birth if i had given birth to him).

We received many special gifts at our daughter's adoption open house. I think anything that serves as a keepsake for the family. One of my favorite gifts was a Cross that hangs on my daughter's wall -- it says "God danced the day you were born". We also received a book called "Our Chosen Child" by Judith Levy. It's a book that you personalize by filling in the blanks.

We got tons of picture frames and photo albums.

We focused on the child so gifts were for her adoption. We kind of treated it like a shower for her. She got a coin set for the years she was born. She got a lladro statue. She got toys and clothes. She got donations for college. And she got lots and lots and lots of items dealing with photos.

If you are looking for an inexpensive gift - how about a age appropriate book with you writting something in front? That would be a nice reminder of the day.
