How Many...

This message was originally posted by Wendi5000.

How many children do you have in your home right now? How many have come and gone during the time you have been a foster parent?

Right now we have 3 (including Evan), and we have had, hmmm...... 7 "come and go" (well, 2 have come - not gone ) since August, 2002 (only 1 long term).

Doesn't seem like we've had that many, but we've had, O, R, J, J, J, D, and N. Wow, guess we've been busier than I thought.

We currently have 3 that we recently adopted; one "adult" adopted at 6, now 19 and at Job Corps. We have had more than 40 'come & go', alot of these were respite. Kids that were "ours", not respite, stayed anywhere from 26 days to 11 months. The most we've had at one time was for 6 weeks last spring, our three, then 18 months, 7 & 8 years, plus a 6 year old & twins of 10 months. Our oldest was still at home, giving us a grand total of 7.

I've had 1 fs (now 2 yo) twice: 8 months last year, 5 1/2 months so far this year. I'm only licensed for 1 child, as it's all I can reasonably handle on my own right now.

We have one little guy - 8 months old - who we have had since he was 7 weeks old and are hoping to adopt. He's our second. Our first was with us from 4 months of age to 11 months and was adopted out to distant family.

We have been fostering for 4 years now and have had 21 children placed in our care. We also did respite for the first6 months but adding all those kids in would be too much!! Presently we have 3 sibs 8 months, 18 months and 2.5 years and a 10 year old along with our own 3 who are 10,13,15. So we have 7 kids at any given time. We have had 6 of our kids longer than a year. One baby J was 18 months then adoption and 2 other little ones 13 months and 2 more sibs who stayed 22 months and 28 months till they moved to long term residences to serve their needs. The 10 year old we have now has been with us 14 months and the little ones 6 months. And life goes on................................................ .LOL
