We foster through the state. We waited 3 1/2 months for our first placement. An emergency placement right before Thanksgiving of last year.

He stayed with us for 3 1/2 weeks. We then waited another 5 weeks until our phone started ringing consistently. We have had placements since January 24th. I have had children going home and more coming in on the same day. We are also still getting calls occasionally and we are full. We are licensed for 2 children ages 6 months - 6 years old.

Just hang in there. You will get your first placement and when they see what a great home you are, the word will spread.

Rachel

sounds like maybe once you have a placement or two , the agency realizes you're reliable and they're more likely to call.

I also live in Seattle and am being licensed through the state. I'm worried that will happen to me too, I don't want to wait months for the first placement. And I'm only being licensed for ages 0-12 months. I did ask the licensor if that was too restrictive, and she said no, not at all. But if they need foster parents so bad, I don't understand why some people have to wait so long.
