Allergic reaction to Reglan - scary day

This message was originally posted by hope4kids.

My little Tay-Tay has been holding her head bent to the left all week. Today her left ear is touching her shoulder. THe doctors say it is an allergic reaction to Reglan. They put her on prescription Benedryl and have warned me to watch her very carefully and bring her straight to the ER at the first sign of trouble. They talked about admitting her for observation, but she has already been admitted 8 times! She has sever asthma, so of coursr, breathing difficulties are the main concern with the allergic reaction. They say if it is not resolved by Monday, she may need Iv drugs.

Tomorrow is my other daughter's 4th birthday. We have 20 people coming to the BUild-a Bear workshop for a party. I am hoping that none of this interferes with it. I would cherish your prayers for the baby and for the party!

Thanks!

cathy

Poor little thing. And poor you! I feel for you. When we first got our little 3 year old he was always in the Dr's office. He had an ear infection at least once a month. He was losing his hair (even had a large bald spot in the back of his head). He was constantly getting sick and I didn't know what I could do. I tried everthing. Finally, after a long battle he was diagnosed with FAE. The doctor explained how their plumbing (his exact words, I love lamens terms) wasn't fully developed or it was damaged and couldn't drain properly. And since this little guy already had tubes in his ears, there wasn't much else to do. 6 months down the road he had a full healthy head of hair and was not getting sick like before. He was happy and I think that made a huge difference. Or maybe that's my wishful thinking. Who knows, but he's happy and healthy now and I'm loving it.

Good luck on your party. What is a build-your bear? Sounds like fun. I would like to hear about it. My oldest daughter is 14 and she is having a swimming party/barbeque here at the house. I love having the family and friends over, but it wipes me out by the end of the day. But oh-the-fun they have.

The birthday party was a great success! The build-a bear is a shop in the mall. the kids pick out a bear and stuff it with the help a fun machine with cotton fluffs flying. They "sew" up the back of the bear, brush him, and name him. My sister made a singing bear cake.

Tay-Tay is really no better. She has glassy eyes and looks doped up. Her head is still slanted to the side. We go to the neurologist on Monday.

Have agood day!

Cathy

Oh the party sounds like it was lots of fun! That is something I haven't heard of. Wish we had something around here like that.

I will keep your Tay-Tay in my prayers. Please keep us posted on how she is doing.

My nieces went to a build-a-bear party after one of their softball games. You can find out more about them and where one is near you on their website www.buildabear.com I think. You make it, pick out clothes and adopt it
