Fosteriung permanently or adopting a 10 yer old orphan
This message was originally posted by ali McCormick.
My husband and I live in uk and are considering adoption or at least permanently fostering a 10 year old orphan. the child lives 150 miles away from us at present and has a huge amount of problems that we are prepared to help her with. One of her problems is that she has been multiply abused including by her mother. the day after she disclosed about her mother to the police her mother died of an asthmatic attack. I was wondering if there are other members who foster a child with a similar dreadful grief to assist. I used to be a bereavement counsellor and am also a trained social work manager, so the challenge doesnt frighten us, its just being isolated if we do eventially have her placed with us. her grief is possibly quite unique and may be a dificulty especially as there are so many other challenges to face at once with her. We have 4 other children all much older than her. Any help would be apreciated as we are dtermoned that we can help her if we do get approved to care for her. |
