My name is Nina. I was in foster care for 14 years and I was never adopted. I had many horrible experiences as a foster child, but a lot of great ones. It made me a stronger person.My younger brother was adopted at 16 years old in Texas. I also have a older sister that i am still trying to locate that was also adopted around 5-7 years old. I found my real mother a little over a year ago and i am now living with her while I work and get enough money for a place of my own. My mother and I are really close. I have met my father too. I am happy I never got adopted, because i feel if i had been adopted, their would have been some conflict when i tried to find my biological parents.

I admire your strenght and that you are able to see the good that came in a tough situation. I believe every child deserves a family that is committed to him or her long-term (although I know not every child will get this). My husband was in many foster homes before adopted and we later became foster parents (and then foster-adopt parents). My husband's experiences made him a more flexible person. We will always have a special place in our heart for kids in foster care. I wish you peace and prosperity. Thanks for sharing your story.
