Question Newb with a question

I filled out my application and certified mailed it to our local DHR and have not heard a word back in almost two weeks. I waited all last week before calling but I have called once everyday this week and left polite voice-mails just stating we wanted to make sure the application was received and had a few questions about the process but the person has not contacted us in anyway whether by mail or by phone.. should I be concerned?

I am not trying to be impatient but when we started the process in Missouri before my husband deployed we were contacted by phone and mail immediately to start the classes and how to prepare our home for the home-studies but I realize different state different DHR but I really thought it would be basically the same. We were unable to even take the classes in MO due to husband deployment so we really haven't ever gotten pass the application phase in either state.

We are really excited to be adopting and were looking to adopt an older child or children between 7-14. I was an adopted baby and my husband was raised by a family friend during his teenage years so we both feel deeply that no child should ever feel unwanted or not worthy so we were drawn to adoption for that reason. We have two bio-kids who also are very excited too. So any info would be so appreciated..

we are in Wisconsin(not sure where you are) but I will tell you it can take some time to hear anything!
I sent our application in to be relicensed (we already had adopted through foster care 2 years ago) and it took 8 weeks to have someone assigned to our case! Then we finally got a call from her and she went on medical leave for 2 months!
We sent in our original paperwork in October 2011,and just finally got our homestudy completed(just an update) last week. It should have only taken 2 months max.
If you don't hear anything back by next week, just try again. Is there a supervisor you can contact? That's the only person I could get in touch with until we were assigned an adoption worker.

Girl we are going through a private adoption for Foster Adoption and our paperwork is slow in CO! My husband is military as well! We came from MO too funny. We are stationed in CO now. I hope you get your paperwork tracked down. I spent almost the entire day Monday trying to track ours down and finally found out the State neglected to sent DH's paper work from the CBI to the FBI... he is military so we know no problems but dang this waiting period before we can even start the home study is killing me lol GOOD LUCK!

We started the adoption process in January (online inquiry). Assigned caseworker on February 6, 2012 (mailed paperwork.) Filled out paperwork (fingerprints, local background checks etc.) and sent back to caseworker February 8. -- so far not bad on timing While waiting the next couple of weeks - had physicals, redecorated rooms for girls- just to stay busy, bought fire ext, safety plugs for outlets etc. April 2nd - pre-homestudy done(2 things needed fixing- completed those projects the same week). Still waiting to start classes as of May 24. This seems like a long waiting period. It has been almost 2 months since pre-homestudy. I'm trying not to be frustrated because I knew it wasn't going to be quick.
My question is to someone that has been thru it- 'Should we be taking classes (training) by now?
I see so many ads about needing families to adopt, but they have families that are willing and it seems like all you get to do is wait!!
