Question for adults/teens who were foster adopted
My children's birthparents rights was terminated. We plan to adopt them. However, they do not know yet that they will not be returning home.
How do you wish your adoptive parents had told you? What would have made this easier? My children are 5, 3 and 1. I would never say anything bad about their parents (though I will be truthful eventually, when they are old enough to grasp more details). My kids will never have to feel guilty for loving them, because I genuinely love their birth parents and pray for them every night. I've been very concerned for them from day 1, but especially so since the TPR. I'm open to having an open adoption if the counselor agrees that it's in the child's best interest AND I'm convinced they are safe to be around. Mom has drug problems and both parents behave erratic sometimes. Their last family visit, the caseworker was worried that they may try to kidnap the kids.
