We went through classes to become foster/adopt parents in October-November 2011. Passed our home study right before Christmas. We were matched with our forever daughter3 days before Christmas and on Dec 27 had the telling.
We had to wait until a the end of January to meet our little one due to the county not doing placements during the holiday season to "prevent kids from being looked at as gifts." Due to major roller coaster issues with SW and foster mom transition was shortened to just 5 visits and one over night in 6 days. TRP took place the day after placement papers were signed and birth parents are supportive of the placement with us after meeting us and letting them ask questions. Now I sit here and watch this little 1 year old sleeping I can't help feeling so blessed and feel like she is very much a part of our hearts and lives just like my bio kids. She has a tough road ahead with her medical issues but we are experienced special needs parents and can handle her needs. We look forward to the day we can finalized the adoption of baby girl. Just had to share! ![]() |

I am so excited and happy to see that my adoption process wont take a very long time as I thought. I will go to my first session on February 25!!!! I am sooooooo excited. There's 7 Saturday classes and one orientation. I cannot wait. I have a family in mind and I pray to God I will be blessed with this 4 sibling group.

Congrats! I just have to say I think the no placements at the holidays and not looking at kids as gifts to be a ridiculous policy. My bio son was born exactly two weeks before Christmas and he was definitely a gift! I had a sibling group placed, as foster on Christmas eve, and I think of them as gifts! Honestly it is not like you applied to be adoptive parents on Black Friday (along with your other gift shopping) and this child was an "impluse buy"! Oh well, glad you have her now to love and cherish---oops, maybe we should not say cherish--that might make her seem like a Valentine's gift!

phxmama---Too funny! I felt it was crazy too but we have her now and that is all that counts. Someone told me to think of all the ups and downs as labor and it something you just have to get through to get a new child in your life.

Congrats and I wish you all the very best! You have been blessed, I know it will be like a roller coaster ride but so worth it in the end.
