General idea how long this will take

We are currently the foster parents of a ten month old and his mother recently surrendered her rights. Of course we want to adopt. Any one know how long it usually takes from here. He has been with ussense 6wks of age and we live in Oklahoma so if you know specific to this state great if not, I would still appreciate a general idea from people with experience in other states.
Thank you

I can't very well tell you for sure, but...

Kids taken (the final time) Feb 2011
We got them April 2011
TPR in Nov 2011
Adoption unit has case Feb 1, 2012
Hoping to adopt in March 2012 (in our case, our agency's ability to update our homestudy in a timely fashion,
including dealing with new state regulations, is going to be the telling factor).

I may not be the one to ask. Our case is going glacier slow. The kids were brought into care in May of 2010. Birthmom signed relinquishment papers in March of 2011. We are set to have Birthdad's rights terminated involuntarily this month, even though he has never done anything on the caseplan, including visit. In our state, there is a 60 day appeal period. Assuming there isn't an appeal, the soonest we can start the adoption process is the end of April. The process takes 2-4 weeks here. I guess I needed a lesson in patience.

In our experience it took 4 months from TPR to finalize our DD's adoption.

Here's our timeline....

April 2011-mom surrendered
June 2011-Dad surrendered
October 2011- STBAD with us for six months, required for adoption.
April 2012- Our Tentative date for Finalizing our adoption.

So it will have taken us a year to finalize and that is with no problems. We live in Illinois.

Here we have a 6 month waiting period after TPR before we can finalize an adoption. It really just depends on how your state does things.

In our case, we finalized just over 4 months after TPR. He had been with us for only 4 months at TPR, so our Lawyer was unable to file for adoption until 2 months later. After that point, it was just over 2 months.
