Princess asked to call me Mom
We had a great weekend with Princess. There were lots of things about the weekend that were wonderful but the one that has me in tears of joy happened right before we left to take her back to the foster home last night.
She was sad that she had to go and wanted to just stay with us instead. We talked awhile and she understood and got her bags ready. She then gave me a note. It said other things but at the end, it said "Can I call you Mom?" I'm touched and she gave me a hug. She gave my husband one too that asked if she could call him Dad. She says she's ready to move so we'll see what the caseworker says this week.

 It is wonderful that you are able to take time with the preplacement visits and ease her into your family. We met our daughter one weekend and she moved in 5 days later. It was way too fast and she should have been given more time. I used to get so many "love notes & pictures" from DD in the first 2 yrs. It was her way of "claiming" us. I have saved them all and still love looking at them. My fav is hanging over my desk.......picture of a beautiful fairy - it is DD and the picture is titled "Daughter Fairy"

Have read many of your posts re: princess....I'm very happy that she is starting to put her foot forward into your family.
Keep this note in a treasured place to keep you through the rough times in the future (if/when there is). This post made me smile

oh that's so great, I know that first visit was rough and sad, it sounds like you all are making tremendous progress. It is great that you live close enough to do the visits, like sunshinemama below, we live far away from our match - we'll spend this weekend with him and then he may move in w/ us in 2 weeks. We talk on the pohone twice a week but it's not the same as weekend visits.

And A Move In Date
We have a move in date - November 12th.
 It will be a big day. Her siblings are finalizing their adoption that morning and then she moves in with us.

Everything is turning "Movie of the Week" sweet. The note is so touching. And just when she would be left out and all her siblings finalize their adoption...she has a mom and dad she can go to also! How perfect! Love those happy endings!
