Need Some Pretty Quick Advice!

SO I have this friend that knows her kids are in a really bad situation, so do I. But they are in another state. Do I call? SHe's scared to because she is afraid she will never see them again because of her past.

If either of you know the children are truly in a dangerous situation, then yes....Call.

If you are debating the possible result of your calling, then look at both sides. What will happen to the kids if you don't call? If you do call and the kids are taken into care, what could the result be for them? Consider the situation for the kids.

If these children are in any danger, then I would definitely call.

thanks for the advice... seems I am going to have to call because the bmom is refusing. She knows she is not the best place for them but better than where they're at... unfortunately I know she's not much better. She's my friend, but I agree these kids have to come first. She wanted me to wait and see if they would have them placed with me if we went up there, but I've been down that road before and don't feel comfortable doing placements through relatives and friends AND the only place they have called home for 6 yrs is the state they are in now. How fair is that to them?
Sorry for my venting... I just feel a little stuck between this rock and hard place . But I DO want what is best for THEM.

I'm a little confused. Where and with whom are these children? Did this friend of yours place them for adoption long ago? How do you know they are actually in any danger?

They are with their father in another state.. I know they are in danger cause I was with my friend listening to the phone call when her son told her he found hiss daddy's spoon and needles for his drugs in his room, was he gonna get in trouble. I have known this family since before the babies ever came to be. My friend left them in the care of their Pgrandmother knowing her and the fther were neither on stable, the grandmother can't let go of dad and lets him act however with the police knocking at the door with him hiding in closets in front of the kids. They tell their mom this over the phone, as you hear the police in the background, who the children know by name.

It sounds like you are a foster parent which put you in a position of being a mandatory reporter anyway.
