Matched, 1st call Friday
We had a great disclosure meeting, we are now matched to adopt a kiddo from our state photolisting. Last week I made a forever family photo album for him and last night it was presented to him by his case manager. He had a foster-sib go to a forever family so he "gets it". And now he's super excited. Very happy to have his own family, happy to have older and younger sisters, just happy. Friday we get to talk to him on the phone for the first time. I'm so excited.

http://lifeingoland.blogspot.com/ July 2008- first home visit/assigned case worker for straight adoption August 2008- Approved/finger print clearance by DES Sept 2008- Began MAPP classes Oct 2008- 2nd meeting/ individual meetings Nov 2008- completed MAPP classes Dec 2008- physicals completed, all paper work turned in,including life book Jan 5th 2009- last home study meeting/paid court March 3rd 2009- received adoption license  April 23rd matched with 5  2 and moving forward!!! May 4 2009 meet kids for first time and decide to bring them home forever same day  Set to finalize adoption on National adoption day Nov 21st 2009

Congratulations! Let us know how your first meeting with him goes! It's awesome that he understands and is excited to be adopted. That may be up and down, but enjoy it now!!

He's 7 and his case worker says he's excited. I'll get to meet his case worker and the adoption specialist next week. Probably a few weeks before we meet him in person.

how exciting. I think my disclosure meeting will be next week. She's 5 so I need to see if I should put a little something/photoalbum together before then or after...probably after the meeting.

we had our call today, 50 minutes we talked. A lot of questions back and forth, he was just so sweet, told us that he keeps asking his foster mom when he can come to live with us, I told him it was like Christmas, it's so exciting and so hard to wait, but we should be happy we get to talk on the phone while we wait to be a family.
I'm traveling for work to the community he lives in next week but don't think they are ready for us to meet in person. I will get to meet his case worker and the adoption worker in peson, I'm hoping next week we'll have a timeline for activities, most of it is dependent on his processing of the adoption, but reports so far area really positive. I'm just all excited I can't stand myself.

This is the best time - and the hardest to wait! But it really does go fast once the ball starts rolling so take the time to prepare now - read the books that are recommended, get the room as you want it, etc.
