Committee Update

We still don't have a date yet; the worker said she's working on it. BUT she did say that one of the families dropped out so now it's just us and one other family! Our odds just jumped from 33% to 50%. Woo! Our adoption worker said she feels like we have this one in the bag. I don't want to get too over confident but come on, we're just an awesome family! lol

Go to the Lane County Heart Gallery website.

The bottom section is for sibling groups. They're the only group that has two boys and two girls.

That's fantastic! We were also being considered for a sibling group from lanecounty (a girl and two boys with a probably baby later on who wasn't listed with them yet) but ended up getting matched in our own state!

Quick Update

I swear, sometimes I feel like this adoption journey is one big soap opera.

The CW of the sibling group emailed our AW and said that the foster parents of the girls took DHS to court because they would like to adopt the girls but not the boys, which would mean permanently splitting up the sibling group.

The boys were placed in a temporary foster home 6 weeks ago. The home they were in for almost a year just didn't want to have foster children over the summer. Well, it was only a temporary placement so the worker said she had to move them to another home last week. Poor things!

The CW told our AW that DHS went to court this past Friday and the judge issued a continuance for September, so this won't be resolved anytime soon. He also issued a stay order so none of the children can be moved (or adopted) until this case is settled. DHS is going to go back to court this week to see if the judge will allow just the boys to be adopted. If he will, then the committee might still be on for August 20. If not, then we have to cancel the committee and wait to find out about the custody hearing.

The CW is confident that the court will side with DHS and allow the adoption of all four siblings to continue. If the court sides with DHS, she's pretty sure the family will appeal.

If the boys can be available for adoption, DH and I already agreed we'd take them (if we're chosen to take them at committee). We'd also continue to hope the girls are up for adoption as well but at least the boys can have a sense of permanency. This feels never ending. Their worker is out of the office until Thursday so we won't know what happens until the end of the week. More waiting!!!
