?? About Adoption Subsidy

I just signed the papers to adopt yesterday and am now waiting for everything to finalize. My question is in my area the adoption subsidy is going up on January 1st from 390 to 475 - i am wondering if I will get the new rate and how that works. I live in NC.
Thanks

Lynnae, I don't think the rate will automatically increase if you signed papers for a different amount. But you could ask your caseworker to check on the new rate for you. From what I've heard, it's much easier to change a rate before adoption is finalized.

Unfortunately my caseworker does not seem to know the answer - she says she thinks I will get whatever the going rate is.

i have a son getting aap from california. a new rate went into effect, but he continued getting the old rate until his 2 year period was up. when we resigned for the next 2 years, he got the new rate at that time. my bet is you will get whatever you signed for....until your pre-set time period is up. how often do you have sign for aap in your state? i bet you will get the new rate at that time.

This same thing happened to me. My daughter's rate, whom I'm adopting now, is more than my son's, who I adopted in 2006 and did not get the raise and won't get one until he graduates to the next stage in 2009.
