Sibling Notifications of our Adopted Daughter
It's been a while since I was on this board!
We adopted our daughter A back in 12/06 after almost 2 years of fostering her. I know A was the 4th child of her birth mother, who was still fairly young at the time. I have been having these crazy recurring dreams about A having younger siblings. Does anyone know if CPS would contact us regarding any siblings if they needed a home? A's birth mom has been missing since she was 2 weeks old. To be honest, we don't even know if she is still in our state or even still alive (sad, but true). There was absolutely no contact with her once she abandoned A. I know A had 2 older sisters who were adopted already in another state. We've never had contact with these sisters and don't believe we ever will. A had another older sibling who died at 4 months as a result of the drug exposure in utero. I cannot help these feelings of believing she has younger siblings and that they are out there somewhere in need. Has anyone had any experience with this?

yes. this happend to us. we adopted little guy...and for YEARS we just felt like there would be a sibling some day...we kept waiting for the phone to ring, and it never did. (not wishing a mom to have a baby she couldn't keep, but just kind of expecting it to happen due to prior circumstances) then, 3 days after we sold our house last year, 3 weeks before we moved out, the phone did in fact ring, and a baby had been born! talk about timing! our phone number had changed, but they found us through some sort of look up program they can use to basically find anyone they want! lol. our county did say that we were lucky because sometimes they do NOT look for siblings, but that we lucked out because the judge on our case was married to an adoptions worker, so he told them to look for sibs when no one else could be found. they ARE in fact supposed to do this anyway....but i got the feeling that they sometimes slack off when they are looking to place a really healthy newborn! anyway...i believe these brothers were meant to be together, and in my heart, i was sure a day like this would come....it just took 4 years! be sure that your information is current in your child's file (not all of mine was ), and that they know that you would want to be called. that's all you can do for now.
