Delays

Has anyone had to wait on filing for adoption because another father was found and social services seem to be dragging their feet on geting a termination? This is a FINO, married but separated for years from the biomother. They seem to be trying to get him to sign a consent (as normally used in step parent adoptions) but of course, he hasn't signed, although he has no interest in the child. Any experience with similar situations?

And, yes, I know all this should have been avoided--the agency should have done a DNA on the putative father (not on BC) and a search for the legal father years ago, but it didn't, and now here we are, we've had fd for over three years, TPRs were final over a year ago, and the fourth anniversary of her removal is coming up.

I don't have experience with that, just wanted to say AHHH!!!!!!!!! (frustrated scream) for you. I can't imagine over three years of waiting. Its been a year since TPR started with our daughter and I'm already so impatient!

Thanks. Yes, screaming, I remember that...kinda past it, now. Guess I'm just going to have to see how it plays out.

"Brandon" has been with me for 14 months. Mom is relinquishing but dad is MIA. He hasn't had any contact with CPS in a year. He hasn't seen the baby at all in over 16 month (baby is 21 months). I don't know how the whole thing will work with Mom signing and Dad not around. I'm sort of hoping he stays lost which will make the TPR based on abandonment easier in court.

THERE ARE EIGHT DIFFERENT WAYS YOUR CHILD CAN DIE ON A CORDED WINDOW TREATMENT
Read "How Safe Cords Kill" at www.pfwbs.org

THREE CHILDREN HAVE STRANGLED TO DEATH SINCE ANGEL DIED ON 8/11/09.
Brandyn Coppedge died on 9/11/09. Rosie Smith died on 9/30/09 and Thapelo Kwofie died on 11/1/09. The Consumer Product Safety Commission is no longer recommending safety kits. They are now recommending that anywhere children live or visit should be free of corded window products.
