gripe water for colic does anyone use it?

I need opinions. My fd is 10 wks old. She has colic. Many nights at bedtime she seems like she is in agony, screaming, fighting the bottle etc. We have her on the alimentum, use playtex nursers with the drop ins, burp frequently but still she seems distressed at times. So, I got this Baby's Bliss gripe water. It's all natural. I give it to her on her fussy nights and let me tell ya, it's like a miracle or something. She takes it in her bottle, then shortly thereafter she passes lots of gas and then drifts off to sleep for up to 8 hours. It's amazing. It has no alcohol. But the down side, it is NOT FDA approved because it is considered a suppliment. I've read so many online testimonials and almost all are pro gripe water. But how do all of you feel about it. I've also tried a colic calm, another gripe water. Although not 100% effective, it still helped ease her discomfort. I've asked the pediatrician and she said that b/c gripe waters are not FDA approved that she can not recommend them. But they work. Thoughts please.
thanks.

Mom2behappy - what brand do you use? Does it make your baby sleepy? I read the previous thread on gripe water, it makes me feel much more comfortable using it.

Gripe Water was a life saver for my daughter. We had spent a small fortune in gas drops and other gas meds before finding the GW. Because my daughter has so many medical problems, I was going crazy to find anything that would ease her.

I asked my doc about it and she said that she approves giving it to kids. But many parents was kinda leary of it...because it isn't as "well known" as other products.

I think that I am the only parent that she has using it. Bad thing is she had just tossed a bunch of it..a week before..dangit!!

Another thing: It works so fast on Abbie, I could hear her belly making noises as soon as it hit her stomach.. a few mins later and out comes the gas.

Heart

Yep, used it a lot with my son. His colic was really severe MSPI, but it still greatly helped.
