what happens now

We only have 3 classes left ( PRIDE) and our home study visits are done( last week) she said we passed everything we needed for home study but it is up to the worker. She hopes to have it all wrote up the 11th. the children ( neices and newphew) all ready live here. Moms rights are terminated ( two of the 3 dads rights are terminated, They gave rights up themself via the court as they didnt want to do what dhs wanted them to do)

So what happens now? The state knows we want to adopt and says " the kids are going no where we will allow you to adopt" But I am unsure what the next step is after the home study and classes are done? We did finger prints have not heard if they are back yet. we passed all our back grounds ect.

Do they just ask the court to allow us to adopt now?

Generally you meet with your adoption worker and they go over an adoption subsidy (if appropriate). They then send that request to the state for approval. Once everything is approved by the state dhs office (as far as the adoption subsidy goes) and you are officially named the adoptive resource it goes to the courts for scheduling. In many states you can choose whether you want the judge to sign and mail the adoption decree to you, or if you would like to appear before the judge with your family for the signing.

Good luck.

How it happened for us was once the adoption home study was approved they then went over the adoption subsidy agreement. We signed it and then they setup a court date to go in front of the judge to finalize. We got the adoption decree that day too.

tyvm for the responces. Do you know how long it takes for us to go from a foster care worker to a adoption worker? Right now we still have a foster care worker but since TPR has happened I am assuming it will go to a adoption worker?

Also they have to serve one of the dads VIA the news paper since they cant find him What does this mean? how long does it take?

Myangels, when you serve someone by newspaper they print a legal notice for a few weeks (these are those columns of small print in the back of the paper). It's a last resort, when you can't actually serve someone in person, but if it runs for a few weeks (the amount of time depends on your state law) and he doesn't come forward, he's considered to have been 'served' by public notice.
