How often are you visited by your SW?

Our nephew is being placed in our home on Oct 1st. We are thrilled! Now that we are all approved and he's a foster child until adoption, how often can we expect visits from either a CW or a SW? I've been told about monthly reporting but nothing about visits yet. Just curious. Thanks in advance!

We have quarterly visits where the SW/CW just checks off a list of things and ask if there have been any changes. Usually it's a chance to sit down and talk with them about how the child is doing, any concerns we might have, anything the agency can help us with, etc. Luckily we have an agency that will come running if we ever called and said we needed then right away. At intake we have several visits the first few weeks just so they know everything is going ok, that we know what is going on with the case, etc. Once we settle in to a routine, there isn't a need for them to come by as often.

Here in GA, our caseworker is supposed to come by once a month to visit and send a report in until the adoption is finalized (after about 6 months here).

Our caseworker must visit in our home once a month, and she must talk to the kids alone monthly. Not all caseworkers do this but technically they are supposed to. From my understanding they started these guidelines after several foster children were abused or killed at the hand of their foster parents.

I also wanted to add that it's quite possible that your caseworkers will be in your home much more often. The last boys that we had, needed counseling twice a week. So the caseworker was often at my house at 7:30 am and sometimes was dropping the boys off at 11 pm. This seems extreme but she was a phenomenal caseworker! She drove over an hour just to take the kids to a counselor that she thought was the best. Not to mention, she had to pick up our boys and their sister (who lived a considerable distance from us). She was ALWAYS was willing to accomodate our schedule.

My point is, don't count on having to deal with caseworkers "just once a month". It often works out quite a bit more.

I'm with a private agency so my SW comes twice a month, but usually one of those visits is at my daughter's daycare. The CW comes once a month, but she switches of each month between my house and daycare.

We are in CA too. Maybe in depends on the agency. But our SW comes out to our home weekly (for the 1st 8 weeks) and then every other week until finalization. This week is week 8 and I am so glad to be going to every other week. We have also had 2 visits from the kids worker and she said she would come again in Oct. So, I guess it is monthly from her.

It is monthly here---I mean, monthly home visits. She sees them weekly because of visits with bio mom at the office. We are in Nevada..

I'm in Ohio as well and we only have monthly visits. As others have stated, SW must see child at least once per month.

our agency person sees each of them at least 2X a month, the two boys on probation from one county-their p.o. sees them once every 2mo, the other boy from a different county sees his cw 1X a month. not always in our house for any of them.

I am in Michigan. Our worker is supposed to see the children at least once a month. It doesn't matter where, but it is stated that she is SUPPOSED to do a home visit at our home every other month. One of the workers I have is really good about following the rules. The other worker would never see them or talk to them if she didn't have to, and even then see doesn't even come close to following the rules.

I am in New Jersey. My social worker is supposed to see my fosterson, in our home, once a month. And, she does. Usually we talk in the dining room and my son is playing in his bedroom. He generally comes out to at least say, "hola". He's obsessed with spanish lately!
