Talking just wondering...

hi...just curious...those of you who have picked up newborns at the hospital to foster, what agency were you working with? We have started with the CPS of our county, but a friend of mine went through Buckner.
thnks

I live in NJ and I used a group called "Just Babies." They are not an agency but a group of people hired by the state to do foster care/adoption training FOR the state. The two woman who did the training were WONDERFUL they are a mother/daughter team and the mother has been fostering for YEARS. So she had a ton of experience and advice to offer and really helped us navigate the system which can be VERY tricky. It was MUCH better than going through DYFS directly for training and homestudy. Just Babies had everything done quickly. And whenever I ran into problems with my case or caseworker I would call one of the girls from Just Babies and they would know exactly who to call or what advice to give. You just can't get any better than that. I had a great experience and got the call for my newborn son about four days after getting my licence. I got a call a year later for his newborn baby sister.

Now they are almost three and four years old and the love of my life.

In our area (rural) some of the counties license and place kids DSS homes, others contract private agencies and some do both. We use a private agency that is used frequently by DSS to place younger children and babies. The most populated county in our area uses contracted private agencies and our agency covers 5 counties. Bethany Christian Services (our agency) has kind of become known as the "go to" agency when PS workers have to place young children or newborns, I really don't know why, just how it is.
