Since the classes in our county in GA for foster-to-adopt do not start until Sept. or Oct., I've contacted a private agency that completes home studies. One advantage of this could be that I could send the home study to agencies outside of my county and state.

Does anyone know if the home studies completed by the county can be sent elsewhere?

Can the county/public agency use home studies completed by private agencies?

I'm sure it depends on the county/state, but in our state, if you want to use a private hs company, the state only accepts one company's homestudies. So, make sure your state/county will accept the hs done by whatever company you contact.

And on your other question, I have heard (not confirmed myself) that most states won't send a homestudy done by them to other states for a specific period of time. They do this because after they have fronted the cost of the hs and getting you licensed they want you to help out their state and their state's children first.

We are also in GA and went through a private agency. It's great that we are able to look out of our State for children also. Yes, the county agencies are able to also use the homestudy from the private agency because they have to be licensed by the State they are in to do them. Hope this helps!
