Are single, working moms eligible?

Hi. My name's Rebecca and I'm a single mom to 2 little boys. I would love to foster-adopt in the future, but didn't know if I would ever be chosen since I'm single and work full-time. Are there other single parents on this forum? How was the process for you?

I am single and work full-time. I've been a foster parent for almost 4 years and adopted my son through foster care. I have 2 more kids that I am hoping and praying that I will be able to adopt. Being single was not a problem when I first inquired about it. I went through the classes and got my first placement the day after I was licensed. My State pays for daycare so I don't have to worry about that. If I get to adopt the 2 kids I have now I will give up my license because I am out of room in my house and 3 kids is enough for me.

Good luck to you. There are a lot of single parents out there who foster and/or adopt...

I too am a single mom who works full time. I am about to adopt my first FS and hope to adopt again in the future. I have met quite a few single foster moms along the way.

Good Luck

I am also single and work full-time. I got licensed to do straight adopt and the day I was approved to adopt I got matched with my daughter. She moved in 2 1/2 weeks ago and the state is paying for her to go to day camp while I work this summer. She is 12. So no being single was not a problem at all for me...I'm still reeling from how fast this all happened. I was prepared for a long wait!

I'm a single working foster parent. I'm licensed for up to three foster children and have had a full house many times over the last three years!
Good luck. Your local CPS office will be VERY glad to have you!

Welcome Rebecca! I'm a 37 yo single woman who has already been approved for adoption, but still waiting on a placement. I'm also in the process of getting my license to be a foster parent. Keeping my fingers crossed that something will happen soon!

I wish my state would pay for daycare...

I'm a single mom working on her second adoption through the state and have been tentatively approached to adopt my baby girl's newest bio half-sister, when/if she enters the system.

Never once has anyone mentioned my being single a problem, my first two were newborns when they came home. My foster daughter I got to pick up from the NICU that was a great experience. And my youngest daughter came home at 6 1/2 months.

Best of luck. Also since I was open to race and sex, I recieved a quick placement.
