I've never done respite, but do have kids, so I think a good way to keep them busy is maybe take them to a park if the weather is right, maybe have a picnic. If not, Chuck E Cheese is a great fall back for bad weather days. You might want to play board games (age appropriate of course). Check with the other foster family's schedule, only because you want to make sure that you stick to it, it makes things a lot simpler if you stick with a schedule they are already used too.

It will be easy, usually kids that age are. Good Luck.

I have never done respite either, because we're full. However, I do have a 4 and 5 year old. They like to make craft projects. Ours also love the zoo and children's museum.

Have fun !!

I have done respite and have had many kids that age, plus my nephews, and my son. Crafts are great. My son loves to paint and cut and paste. You can use pasta, beans, cotton balls, yarn. PLay-doe is another fav, but watch out its messy. Coloring books are good too. Puzzles. I also build a tent out of sheets and the chairs( put four chiars in four corners, put sheets over) and put kiddo music and that keeps them busy for awhile. Board games, memory games. My son was playing UNO since he was four and is pretty good. Zoo is great. Bake a cake together or cookies, my son and daughter love making cookies. I also have the kids dress up and make a play. Going to the park or walking the dogs, my son loves to taking walks. Make sure and find out if they take naps...my son does not, but my daughter naps for 2-3 hours a day (love it). You be surprise how fast you day can go when they nap. Have fun and good luck.

LOL...Actually I meant to write yesterday but of course mothers day was yesterday and we had everyone over and then all out to dinner last night and today we were at the clinic for a follow up appt with my hubby, so sorry fo rno follow up but I had no time.

Anyway, it went wonderful. The weekend was full of adventure, early rising, naps and most of all cuddles. Kids give the best cuddles. One thing I found very amusing was when the little one T who is 5 would lay or sit next to me, her little arms wouldn't reach around me fully and I felt like a big old cow I said to my hubby man kids little arms and hands make u feel huge Not that I am huge but still they didn't fit

Had a good time heres hoping for a more permanent one next time.

You see it was a lot easier than you thought.

I'm glad it went well.
