To all of you who know about fostering to adopt, I have a question for you...

We finished our homestudy and were approved in 03/07, we received the actually licensed on 05/25/07. We have yet to receive a call from our Adoption resource worker. Now I understand that it takes some time for matching and placement, but shouldn't we have received a call from him/her saying who they were? We don't know their name and have never met him/her. Am I being impatient or is this something I should be concerned about? Should I call and say hey, we haven't received our adoption caseworker, or does it just take a while for them to assign us one?

If any of you could help me better understand the process it would greatly appreciated!

I would just give them a quick call letting them know you were just wanting to touch base and find out who the worker was. They can get swamped and, unfortunately, sometimes things get lost.
When I was adopting Brianna it had been over 6 months since I had heard from anyone so I called her fc worker. The FC worker told me she had sent the file to adoptions. I called the adoptions department and they told me I was mistaken because they had no such child in their computer. LOL She'd lived with me for 18 months or so at this point. I assured them I WAS right because she was tearing up my living room at that very moment. It turns out they had lost her file and after a month of calling and trying to be patient I went to the office and said I was sitting there with my two children under 3 until they found her file and could tell me who her worker was. In about an hour I had the info I needed.
Sometimes they get super swamped so it could be that they are just slow or that it got lost in the shuffle.
It never hurts to call.

Thanks for your reply, I didn't want to seem like I was overly eager or pester them, so I wanted to hear from someone who has went thru the process. My husband is giving them a call now!

What I do is as soon as we are finished with one thing I ask what the next step is and about how long it will take to get there. After that amount of time I call and say it has been ___ long and we still have not got this or that. I had to do this three or four times when we were trying to get hooked up with our adoption worker. She still never contacts me I try to email her once every 2 - 4 weeks. I don't want her to forget about us.

We called and got an answering machine. But someone called us back and said that they haven't forgotten about us and they're trying to assign someone to us. (I'm wondering if they are short staffed?) And soon someone will call us and as soon as a matching child becomes available for adoption or enter into the foster to adopt program we will be placed.
