adoptmom, I know how you feel. The sibling set we're going to committee on has a Heart Gallery listing and that says they're on hold because of a placement meeting. Hooray! It would just be nice to know WHEN the meeting is, lol.

Thanks guys for your well wishes. Our little angel, as our daughter Sabrina calls her, has been with us for 6 days now. And we are totally smitten with her. She is such a sweetie.

Best wishes to all for good news in the coming week!

staffing held, now time to wait

So, we had the staffing today and I think it went really well. We will find out on Friday if we are chosen or not. I am really interested in the 3 year old more than the the sibling group, but whatever God decides to do is fine with me. Man plan and God laughs. At least that is what I've experienced.

How is everyone else?

Last week I submitted interest in a 7 yr old little girl.
Tuesday I got her HSEGH (psych evals) and asked if I was still interested after reading it.

I AM!

So now my scrapbook is on it's way to her worker, and I am going CRAZY with waiting to know for sure if this is IT!

Getting matched...

This round will be interesting as I'm in a new state and licensing through a private organization. I went through the state and received a match within a week or so. I wanted a foster to adopt option with one child as I was single. However, 10/11 yo brothers were offered within a day of being placed in a shelter. They were such good kids I dug deep/tightened my belt and bought an extra bed. Being that new to the system, they lacked many of the issues related to long term shuffling.

My biggest fear materialized when bio-dad was found after a month or so. His family offered much more than I ever could. He never missed a child support payment from out of state although bio-mom refused to tell him where they were or see the kids. He never gave up hope. The eventually transitioned into his home while mom was in prison.

It was very hard to get attached only to see them go.

I was surprised the match occurred that quickly, although my case worker probably just found a way to keep me from calling/bugging her. ;-)

Red face

We were not chosen for the 3 year old, but they really wanted to consider us for the sib group. We decided to opt out for the sib group because the oldest one needs a daycare that can handle behaviors and does not have a lot of teacher transition. I called to a few places and they could not provide what he needed. I do not have the option to stay home, so we had to do what was right for him and for us. It sucks. I am so ready to have forever children, but it has to be right. We are not looking for perfect children, but what is perfect for us. We could have parented the sib group, but I don't want to parent just to be a parent. I know that the right child(ren) are being prepared for us and we are being prepared for them. But it still hurts knowing that we could have had forever children, but it wasn't the right time. What I am going to do is to start researching more daycares in my area, so I can have more knowledge about the programs. There is a 5 year old in another state that I called about and the worker is going to contact my worker. So the search continues. At least we now have the experience of a 15 panel staffing and they will keep our homestudy for future considerations. So that is good.

Good luck for everyone else in the waiting game. I tell you. If I don't have patience by the end of this process, then I will never obtain it.

"How's everyone doing?"

Well....I was matched with a 13 yr old boy last month. This last weekend was his first weekend with us. Without going into details....it didn't work out. (I really don't know how much I can share, but to say that it was clear to me that this isn't a match at all) I feel horrible, and disappointed. I have some serious feeling that I'm sorting through, but I can tell you that I will be much more cautious as a result.

Robin - So sorry to hear that the match wasn't right for you. I hope that the right child for you will come along and that he finds a family for him.

My husband and I were matched with a 9 yr old girl. We are reviewing the case file now so we haven't met yet. The case file is large so we have some work ahead of us.

I am impatiently waiting for my staffing for a 7 year old to take place. During this wait my adoptive worker has quit the agency and I am not yet reassigned. Who will represent me at the staffing? Who knows. I spoke to the girls case worker, so she is aware of what's happening. I really hope this doesn't affect the match....

We were tenative matches for 3 sets of sibs and a pre-teen boy that all were not the right kids for us, or we were not the right parents for them. It was more nad more frustrating as it started to feel as if we were never going to have children in our lives. We have had some hairy moments with the kids but it was worth all trouble.
