Wow, it's going to be a long two weeks, huh? I'm glad you have a date though. I have no idea when they will make a decision for "my" girls. I might still be waiting, and they'll be in their adoptive homes already!!!

Wow - there's been a lot of action on here in the past while. I missed a lot! Congrats to those of you who have matches in the works!!!!!!

We've been busy with our situation for a few weeks. We were interviewed by two workers and three foster moms a couple of weeks ago. I almost fainted in the middle of the meeting because I was so nervous.

The kids and their extended family were told about us yesterday. Apparently everyone is excited to meet us! We weren't expecting the kids to necessarily be on board right away.

We're meeting them this weekend

That is awesome!!!

We met a set of siblings today - it went well (at least we think so). We aren't exactly sure what this means as we haven't had a disclosure meeting yet but the CW introduced us as the possible adoptive family I am waiting to hear back on what is next - if we are the only ones and if so, is this considered a match and we can move forward? We have already talked through what is going on with them - we would get the youngest first. This journey is such a rollercoaster!!

Waiting to hear back from the CW

waiting...

I am officially waiting to be matched.

I submitted for 2 girls the day I was finally approved (after DCFS delays & lost files )....

And a family had nbeen chosen for them 2 days earlier.

I was disapointed, but surely these things happen for a reason....right?

So now the wait/search. I'm looking at TARE and I've registered for AFN. I thought about doing the flyers to all the CWs in the state like I saw another family suggested. Anyone else have ingenius ways to search for their children.

My caseworker told me directly that she won't be telling me everytime she submits me for a child, because she doesn't like it when people get discouraged by not being chosen.

So I guess I am waiting......

So, as I mentioned, we met the sibs yesterday but really weren't given next steps. I sent them a follow up email - how long would you guys wait until you called to follow up? I don't want to be too pushy I know they have so much to do and many kids. Just wondering what the recommended follow up time would be?

Don't think of it as being pushy. Think of it as being proactive for the good of your possible future children.

It's odd that they let you meet them and didn't show you full disclosure first. Very odd that they told the kids you might adopt them without full disclosure happening first. Maybe they thought that you'd get hooked by the cuteness and look at the disclosure with a more open mind? Be careful. I hope this is a match for you, though.

I am waiting to hear about a boy we put in for last month and he will be having a matching meeting in July sometime. Have no idea if we will be chosen for him...but we are hoping.....in the meantime we still have gotten a few calls to foster some kids but we haven't accepted any because none of them have felt right. It is definitely a roller coaster! DH and I hope though we can get off the ride eventually! We are looking forward to trying a new ride out...maybe...something not so crazy. LOL

I thought it was a little strange too - now they have done a "verbal" disclosure - we know the worst info in other words - they were very upfront with that. I asked about a disclosure and it seems more to be a capacity issue to get copies made with the names that need to be blacked out blacked out. He did mention possibly going to visit 2 of them in the home they are in to see them in their "natural surroundings." I want to be hopeful but I think I am just protecting myself from disappointment - seems too good to be true

Spoke with the CW for the litte boy we submitted for in May. His committe mtg is June 17. She didn't know that his profile was taken off the website and she is still taking homestudies for him. She stated that she remembers our name and if we are chosen then we will be contacted. I guess we will have to wait and see. Got a call for a foster placement, but the child ended up going to a relative. I told our worker that we do not want to take any children that are foster only as we have 2 and the next child we want is our forever child so that worked out for everybody. We had a call for a 11 month old little boy from another county, but he possible has a severe visually impairment and my dh and I agreed that severe VI is a deal breaker. I know our child is out there and we just need to be patient.

oh sorry about that. It seems as though a few people here including myself has had some setbacks this past week with potential matches. I hope things come through for those of us here on this thread at this moment!

Be forewarned that they will most likely act very different in their "natural surroundings." My mild mannered kids turn into kids I don't recognize when visitors are over. They may be super silly or on their best behavior. If you have concerns, I'd ask impartial people like teachers and such.

well I applied today for 2 other little girls (5 & 8)
and spoke directly to thier caseworker as well...

she indicated she'd like to have a family choosen and send out the deidentified file before she goes on vaction the 18th-26th.....

So maybe this will roll along quickly!

It actually sent up a little red flag for me that she seemed so eager...Is that crazy?

Still waiting for my announcement. And "WHY?" you may ask. Because I am gun shy and have only had two placements. LOL For the way people talk it is a done deal and we will have a dd but until I have an actual date of meeting.

Wisking good luck to everyone else!
