I cannot wait to be waiting.....We STILL do not have a completed homestudy that began last January...Although the agency called us on a private adoption situation which would be a long shot for us. We said to go ahead and add our name. Then I found out we are still not completed....Our first HS visit was Jan 9, 2007 and last visit HS was MArch 1, 2007. I think they have 30 days to complete if I remember correctly. I am going to wait until April one and ask for answers.....I know they are short staffed but we began in Aug and I think thats alot of time for HS. What do you guys think?

Rebecca, I am so sorry! To me, that seems like a long time. But I'm a pretty impatient person. I think I would call them now, just in case they can "get it together" before the 4/1 deadline. I hope you hear something soon.

Rebecca-
Sorry to hear that it is taking so long to finish your homestudy....I understand your frustration, we finished our PRIDE in June, got licensed in October, and the lady who was writing our homestudy did not finish until March...the good thing that came out of that is that we were matched 2 1/2 months later to two wonderful boys that we have since adopted....I know you don't want to hear this, and I hated hearing it at the time, but perhaps your homestudy is taking so long to complete because your kids are not ready to come home to you yet! I keep having to remind myself of that now as we have been trying to get our homestudy updated for almost a year now...(UGGHHH working w/ the county definetly teaches you patience) Hang in there and give them a call now...why wait till April, what can it hurt to call them now????? Good luck and let us know how your call went!

Approved and waiting
Feb 28 2007 we got that magical paper in the mail that said we are approved to be foster-adopt parents in california.
We have a 4 year old birth daughter (we waited 8 years for.) We are praying for siblings under the age of 5. There are so many children in California I can't imagine it will take that long. Tomorrow I go and look at the book. Situations of children who are available for adoption. When you give birth to a child, you just accept what you are given. We have a choice - a huge one now! WOW. Overwhelming. I will be watching this thread closely there are so many of us waiting. It's good to have the support of others. blessings to all who are waiting for their forever children. Jules |

I'm in the process of doing a generalized homestudy. My first six were child-specific, as I was adopting my own foster kids. But doing it a bit different this time!
I have all of my paperwork done and handed in, but the social worked was on medical leave this month and won't be officially back in the office till next week, at least (although she sent out referral forms this week). Since we are really just updating and generalizing my last homestudy (she actually did my last two), it should be a rather short process! I'm so anxious though! Every day I think, "this is one more day my new sons (whoever / wherever they are) is sitting in a foster home not knowing they will have a forever family soon!" Every day makes so much difference in a kid's life! This just can't happen soon enough for me OR them!!! ;~) Kelly

Well, we have an update somewhat.....LOL...It never ends. The CW was unable to locate bmom so no decision was made which I expected. They mailed her a letter asking her to come in and make the choice of parents for placement. We are still one of three families. SO there is a chance we could still get this little guy. So another two to three weeks for an answer...PLease keep us in your thoughts...

WOW, I would like to welcome to all the new members of the waiting game. I would try to list all their names but I'm afraid I would miss someone. I thought my little thread was about to die.
Our update - Baby C will be going to a family member soon. I don't think it is the best place for her she is only 6 weeks old they have 5 other children one that was born in Jan. one 21mo old, a 3yr old, a 6yr old, and a 9yr old. But they don't ask my opinion, do they. I spoke to the soon to be foster mom and she seems really nice and said that she will send pictures ( I hope she does). But I just worry that C will not get the attention that she gets here. Oh I forgot to mention that they have grown children too, so they are no spring chickens. So now we are still waiting to here from the match specialist. Good Luck to You All MommaCass

We are taking our daughter to disneyland for a few days. We figured this might be a good time for her to have mommy and daddy time before the chaos begins!
Is anyone interested in a list of questions for the sw's and fp's before placement? I search different forums and put one giant list together in Word (for any age) and then customized mine for a child under 2 - So I can email both lists or post it here....anyone interested? |

These days are getting rough. Another couple whom we are friends with and is using the same agency, was placed with nb girl today. Nine months ago they were placed with a three month old boy. Both are foster/adopt. There first child was placed the day we turned in our paperwork last Aug. We are happy for them, yet sad and ??? for us.
We are still waiting to hear about the baby decision (private adoption and unusual) which has been ongoing since Marceh 14 although baby was born mid January. And now it seems another additional two weeks minimum. I am torn on which way to go. As we wait to see if the birthmom picks us, she has been MIA. Our agency is holding the foster/adopt hs. So far two babies have been placed through foster/adopt while we are waiting. I am at a loss. Today I felt discouraged. If we were to get him it would be worth it. But there is no guarantee which way she will go. I have no clue which way to turn...We started in Aug 06 and i feel the only accomplishemnt is that we have fallen into two more new regulations and now are required to take three more classes prior to April 30. I feel as though we are give, give and no end in sight, Which might be normal since we are new to this. LOL..Maybe I need to go to bed and start a new tomorrow. Any thoughts???????????

Oh Rebecca my thoughts are with you! I know there are days that I want to crawl into bed and have no one bother me!!! It is soooo frustrating going through this. I am sure after we are all placed and finalized we think this was not so bad. Hopefully that day will not be too far in the future

I was just licensed to foster care on March 19th 2007 and the adoption cert will come later. I know it hasn't been long but I want to call some one and find out who my family specialist will be. I am looking to adopt but am willing to foster also. I want a sibling group but i also want babies.
