How long ago did you guys get matched? We have been matched since 10/10 & still no file? Was he very young? We were hoping since our match has been in custody since birth it would be quick getting the file?

We were matched on Thursday, we got his child study by email friday morning. We will get all his records this week. Our son is also very young, I don't think that has much to do with it. In my experience, how fast things happen mostly depends on your worker and his worker.

Wow things are really buzzing on the boards!

Mommy2None (doesnt feel right calling you that anymore) we requested pictures forever and never did get one until we were in contact with fostermom. We put in an inquiry on R in May and they had the RAS and we didn't find out we were chosen until a month later. Then it took 3 months to get her file and even then it was a partial file so we had to wait 3 more weeks to get the rest. Then we had to wait almost a month to do phone staffing and we got that after really pushing. It's hard but be patient ours took forever and it was all because of her workers.

We picked R up on Sat. morning and got to keep her until Sun. night. She was so nervous I felt so bad for her. But after about 20 minutes at our house she and our son were outside running like crazy and they had a blast. When it was time to take her back she asked if we could just keep her. It broke our hearts. But our worker came to our house Sunday for a visit and we set up two more weekends and scheduled for placement on the 10th. We are so excited. I have been pretty freaked out by the whole thing but I'm doing better. I worry about everything and I was so worried that maybe we were making the wrong choice or whatever that I was working myself up. I dont think its only adoption I have one bio son and I remember asking if they could put it back...LOL I adjust slowly!! She will be a wonderful fit for us.

Welcome to all the newbies on here, we're glad to have you whether your foster/adopt or straight/adopt!

FYI for all Texas Foster/Adopt and Straight Adopt parents. You must keep the Medicaid until the kids are 18 to receive the college tuition benefit. If you drop the Medicaid the child is no longer eligible for college tuition through the state! I found that out this weekend..yet another thing we didn't know!

Smile We're back..

Congrats to everyone who has found their match! That's very exciting and I wish you all the best in going forward. Our "match" was a nightmare, so we're officially back to waiting. Fortunately, our case worker kept holding inquiries while we were "matched" so we're supposed to meet with her this week. Somehow we keep ending up "matched" with children with severe behavioral issues that should never be placed with other children. Walking away was very difficult, but I know we made the right choice. When it's meant to be, it will happen.

athikers,

WOW! you are so lucky. We havent even heard an estimate time of arrival of his file. I guess it really depends on the child. But you would think when they sent out the broadcast in May they would get the file ready THEN! I just dont understand what they have been doing since May. It took them from May until October just to select a family! But with so many children & so many families i guess its hard to keep up sometimes.

Congratulations MamaNKids!! Daughters are so much fun, and her age is when she needs mama the most! Last night at 9:30 pm we were called about a 5-yr-old boy with autism that hasn't been on any websites, and they hadn't even done his child study yet! He's already TPR. So far it sounds perfect to us, but afraid to get our hopes up yet again. I just have a feeling.....it feels right this time. Anyone else been called about a child they didn't send a home study off for?

Congrats Mama, Anthikers and Mommy!!!! I've got my fingers crossed for you Perfect7. Mommy I was looking at your time frame on your signature and since you got your license its been almost 9 months....that pretty neat.

Mommy it sounds like things are actually going pretty quickly for you. It tooks us months to get R's file so 3 weeks is pretty good. What Region are you getting him from? R is coming from San Antonio and they have been a nightmare to work with but its almost over!! We will have R for good on the 10th!!! I cannot wait! I'm doing much better than I was with the transition although still really really nerverous and scared.

Well he is coming to us from The Valley, which is waaaay down south by Brownsville. Pretty much on the mexico border. Its about 7 hours away & the town he is actually in is 11 square miles TOTAL. So we arent looking forward to the transition, but we cant wait for AFTER. You must be so excited to bring her home! I think feeling a little unsure is normal. You are meeting a child who is a complete stranger & I know alot of wome n who felt that way after they gave BIRTH, but just didn't want to admit it. Bonding is not always automatic. But I am very glad to see you are feeling better!

UGH. I am so discouraged!!!

I was told a ways back to expect to have an answer as to whether or not we were chosen as a preadoptive placement by the end of October

Well...the end of October is in 9 minutes. I actually have a full 24 hours befoe it's officially over....and after reading the posts on here I was prepping myself for the reality that the 31st could well come and go with nary a word from DSS.

I just wanna know if these are my boys or not. The wait is absolutely driving me insane.

I almost want to call and say forget it, just put me back on the foster list. But in my heart I can't do that because if they are my sons, I just can't be bailing on them.

Ring, phone, ring!!!

Hang in there Sergekel we did our RAS in May and it was June before they called about R. There timeframes mean nothing!

Mommy I know very well where the valley is I grew up in the Corpus Christi area and my dad worked in the valley for a while. That will be a hard visit transition but maybe the foster or caseworker can meet you somewhere along the way for your visits. We are getting R from San Antonio and her foster mom meets us half way to drop off and pick up. Next weekend though we go get her for good!!! So excited. My dh is picking her up from school today so we can have her for a little longer this weekend. It was hard to let her go last Sunday and she didn't want to, and this weekend will be much harder!
