last homestudy
We have completed our homestudy....Per our CW she will have it written and approved soon (she said it would be approved). We are hoping by April 1. So we treated ourselves to a nice quiet lunch and then bought a crib. DH has already set it up in the room. We are starting to feel as thought this is really going to happen. LOL..as you can see I am excited. Four more items for the room and I will have it finished.![]()

Congrats Rebecca!!!
Well, we got our short term placement on Friday. The baby is to die for; she is sooo cute!!! Only downfall, she cries everytime I walk away from her so I have not got too much done around here!! Her sister, I think, has some mild attachment issues. She was here maybe 30 minutes started calling me mom. My older two were not here, so it is not like she heard them calling me that. We had a friend come by Friday night, my girls call him Grandpa. She ran right to him hugged him, gave him a kiss on the cheek. She is in my youngest daughters room and keeps saying everything in there is hers. I can not imagine how confused and hurt they both are. They have been shuffled around a lot in the last 3 weeks. She was watching my hubby make dinner last night; he asked her if her mom worked. She told him yes, but she couldn't say where it is bad. He said ok, then she tugged on his shirt and whispered she sells drugs!! I thought he was going to die!!! She is so young and to know that is heartbreaking!!!!! I hope they find the right family for them so they can have a perm. loving home. Please pray for them!! |

Well I guess you can include us in the wait. We want to adopt one more time, but right now we are taking a break. We did have a baby placement that was 20 month old, that was with us for almost 7 months, but we asked to have him moved. It broke my heart, but I needed a break. We have been taking placement for 2 years with no breaks in between. My body and mind needed time with just are new family. So we are on our break right now. We plan to open our house prob in Mayor June or July, not sure. So I guess we are waiting. We plan to take both, fost/adopt and just fostercare. As I have learned anything could happen. Our daughter came as foster placement and 10 months later she became our daughter.
Mommacass-Congrats on your new placement. I hope things goes well for your family and for your sweet baby in your home right now. Shybear-Wow poor thing. It soo sad what children in such a young age can learn and know of a hard life. I had a five year old that learned to make suicide threats to get her way just like her mother did. It breaks my heart. Love them for the time they are there. Do they already have a home in mind or are they looking for a fost/adopt home? If they are looking for a home that could take longer then a few weeks. Actually it could take months. Good luck with everything and I hope you get a baby boy soon.

Shycar, they have a home in mind for them. A decision is suppose to be made this week. If the family in mind does not want to move forward I believe they have some back up one's in mind.
The fun is starting with the caseworkers!!! When I agreed to take these girls I was told I did not have to worry about doing visits. Got a call today to schedule a visit on Thurs. Was told I would not have to do any doc. appointments. I have to make one for them b/c the previous family did not do it. No one has a clue if they were enrolled in WIC so I am trying to get that sorted out. |

Hello Everyone,
It looks like baby C might be going in a week or two. When we took her to visit Mom on Monday the worker said that she had given them some more family member names and they are doing back ground checks to see if they can take the baby. I'm a little sad to see her going and if they came to me right now and asked if I will keep her, I would. But I am also good with her going because I am really tired. She wakes up every 3 hours during the night. Now I remember why I said that I wanted 6mo to 4yr. So it looks like I will be joining the waiting game again. Hope you all are doing good. MommaCass

Well, we have run into a road block on our adoption. Our CW called yesterday afternoon and informed us that at this time she cannot approve us. There is a new state(Texas) law requiring that all homes with a pool must have a fence surrounding the pool. So after crying and speaking with DH and the CW I did feel a little better.
It seems everytime we are close to finishing, there is another obstacle. We always thought the rollercoaster would be waiting for placement and then moving forward. Never did we think it would be from a homestudy. So today I am trying to get estimates. So far it varies between $2500 and 2900. We have no idea what the outcome will be at this point.

Rebecca,
I'm so sorry to hear this. I know how hard these obstacles are. I'm praying that you will get the money for the fence and have a smooth ride to approval. |

In Nevada it is required to have a locking pool cover or locking fence.
I was also required to have CPR.

You think the strangest things at times while going through this. Tonight as I was sitting here, I thought, what if we pull this off and get the fence then no approval!....Gosh forbid.. Am I tired or what? Strange I used to be normal...LOL..prior to all this....

I don't know if it's an option, but here in Ca, if you have an in-ground pool, you can use those taunt covers, i've seen the ads where the baby elephant is walking across the cover. Also if you have concrete around your pool, those nylon fences are pretty cool, the poles snap in nylon fabric fence is closely woven and can't be climbed or pushed down. very child-proof. Good Luck!

Update:
We are now matched with 4yo and 9yo siblings, and are still deciding on whether they'd be right for our family. We are meeting with the county worker next week to hear details, see pictures, and possibly set up a meeting with them.
exciting, but terrifying!!! ![]()
