Mommacass-that is so great.

Yash-Wow your kids were so young when you got them. Does that happen a lot? I just figured we would be lucky to get a three year old.

I'll join you in the waiting....

Well, kinda.

I have been a foster parent since Nov 04. In June of 06 I updated my homestudy to Adoption.

I am currently the foster parent to a toddler whose case plan was recently changed from reunification to concurrent planning. The child has been with me for 9 months. Only God knows the outcome but I certainly pray it's HIS will for me to keep this child.

Look forward to waiting with you....

Oh these people are driving me nuts, I'm beginging to think that is there job. First we were going to get her yesterday evening, then it was today before noon, and now it will be this evening. I sure hope nothing else happens. I went this morning and bought bottles, formula, diapers, baby bathtub, just a few preemie, newborn, and 0-3mo clothes. I think I have enough to get me to the weekend. I don't want to wash them yet because I'm afraid that they will call and say that they decided to place her some place else. I have been tring to think of questions to ask when they bring her. What would yall ask?
Does this tell you how I am feeling right now?

Our placement worker called this morning. They decided not to make a decision on the baby boy they had told us about for 30 more days. They are wanting to keep him with his brother. So more or less the family needs to take both of them or they are going to look at other people. She thinks the family will end up taking both boys. She said there a few other cases they are working, but not a whole lot. In my heart I knew this was not going to happen; I am so tired of all of this!!! Between our time with this county and the other county we were with we have been at this for a year with no result.

Thanks!! Right now it is in the hands of the relatives. I believe they will end up taking both boys so we are not an option at this point.

I would ask about any medications and the baby's personal & family medical history. That way you'll know what you'll be dealing with and what you may have to watch for in the future.

Mammacass-

For our first placement, it was a baby as well and we hadn't planned on a baby, so we did some big time shopping in a short amount of time. We were initially told the we would get her the next day. Then it was the next day, then the next, etc. She was in a relative placement that did not want to give her up and eventually the police had to get involved. All told, we waited 7 days for her to come. BUT, TPR then happened within 3 months and we finalized her adoption 6 months later. That was almost 3 years ago now! So, hang in there! I know the wait is awful!

Mommacass -- Can hardly wait for an update!! That would be so exciting!

We are waiting for older girls so I haven't needed anything to prepare. We will probably need bunk beds but don't want to spend the money prematurely. Feels like it could jinx the whole deal. It would probably be different if we were getting a baby or we didn't have a whole herd of kids (bio) already.

skilack,

I live in Los Angeles. And i just found out that any given time LA County has the most children in foster care than in other county in the country.

I was told it can happen pretty regularly if you're open. I'm open to race, some legal risk (though my SW works really hard at finding me placements that look very solid), and I will consider babies who have tested positive in the hospital. I have been very blessed to have two healthy children who were placed with me at such a young age.

shy_bear - I'm sorry to hear about the baby not being placed with you. Please keep the faith, the baby that is just perfect for you and your family is out there.

Sorry that it has taken me awhile to get back. Baby C is a perfect little angel. She was just over 5lbs when they brought her. But we are already working on getting some meat on her tiny bones. She sleeps alot, I'm not. I took her for check up earlier and she was 5lbs 15oz. CPS called today and said that bio mom wants a visit. I am very nervous about this and I don't know why. Maybe because I have fallen in love with her already. It took about 24 hours but it did happen. When the cw brought her I ask if there was any family and have they been contacted. She said there is family but they are only interrested in adopting her not fostering her. She said they didn't want to help mom. That just seems wrong if they want to adopt her then they should have to foster her in the mean time. I don't know what to think. Why would they want her to get attached to another family and the family attached to her and then take her. Bio mom already had two children adopted out thru CPS. What do yall think about this situation.

Also about 12 hours after taking baby C we got another call for a 3yr boy and an 11mo old girl. Of course I felt that would be to much to soon.
Well I wish you all lots of luck and please send your prayers that baby C will have a wonderful life with whoever she goes to. I will keep you updated on other threads because I don't want to change the subject of this one. I love this thread and the people on it are great, but my heart doesn't want to come back here again to wait.

Talk to you later.

MommaCass

Enjoy her Mommacass!! Keep us updated.

Tomorrow morning we are taking a 9 month old baby girl and her 4 year old sister. We are doing this as a favor to the placement worker; she is in a bind and called asked me to help out. They will be here for a week or two and then move onto their foster/adopt family. I asked the cw if we like them can we be considered; she quickly reminded me that I am waiting for a boy!!!! So wish me luck, I am going from 2 to 4 in a day.
