Heart journeys to motherhood

should check out the "Journeys to Motherhood" website. The woman who runs it does a bi-weekly podcast. Just discovered it and was very encouraged by it. Thought I would pass it on..... again

Just an update, We have been licensed for awhile now & have been submitted on 10+ plus children but still no match! JENKAY, so sorry to hear about your frustration. We are with the same agency (I've seen your E-mail on the broadcasts), we have been getting submitted at least once every week or two. Twice today! Your remote location might have something to do with it. I cant imagine having been waiting as long as you guys have, but i wish you the best!

What a difference a week makes. I had written about a month ago that we were going to staffing for R, a 10 yr old little girl. We never heard anything from them again so we assumed that we had not been chosen for her. Well my matching specialist called yesterday and said your never going to believe who just called me! It was R's case worker and we were chosen for her!! I cannot believe that a week after we give up we have a placement!! We will have to read her file to make sure everything is what they say it is but I don't forsee any problems! I am so very excited, we have our little girl!

I want to thank everyone here for their support it has meant so much to me.

mommy i had no idea we were with the same agency! I'd love to talk to you if you want to email me!

I'll keep everyone updated! And welcome to all the newbies I hope your all placed much faster than we were!

Jenkay,

How very exciting!! I can only imagine the thrill you must be feeling. Do you know when she will be in your home? You must be having so much fun getting everything ready.

Every day I sit by the phone. Every day at 5pm I get depressed because no call. And I'm still at the beginning of this wait (although we've been working on it for a year).

Is anyone waiting in AZ? If so, I'd like to hear your experience with this process. Do I really just have to passively wait for CPS to magically come across my file and choose us for a child?????

Sorry for the tangent, JenKay, I really am so happy for you, especially after you've had such a frustrating wait.

jenkay - congratulations! I am so excited for you. I can't wait to hear more. Are you going to do visits and slowly transition her to your home? Let us know how it goes?

Thanks so much for the well wishes!! I dont know when she will be in our home though i'm expecting before summer is over. We do plan to do the slow transition, we have an 11 yr old son and we'd like for them to get to meet before just moving her in. I think it would be best for everyone. We are waiting to read her file and so long as they didnt miss anything huge that we cant handle (dont see that happening) then we accept the placement and start visitation.

We have a plain guest room and we plan to let her help decorate once she comes and i want to wait to meet her before buying her any clothes to see her size and style. So I'm basically just pacing!!! LOL I do need to clean out that closet of stuff we were storing in there but that will be this weekend. I'd like to buy her a necklace or bracelet or something like that to give her when we meet her..do ya'll have any suggestions? I'm in overdrive mode right now!

I think a piece of jewelery sounds very nice. Maybe you can get something that matches, one for her and you.

Maybe a charm bracelet or necklace that you can add to over time. You can start with a charm symbolic of your start together.

Thanks guys! I like both ideas of the matching jewelry and the charm bracelet.

We have been matched with a 8 yr old male and are having visits now. We gave him a photo album at the first visit. There were pictures of the immediate family with a short narrative explaining relationships and who was who. There was a picture of the house, the pets, our uncle(who lives with us), as well as the local wawa and elementary school he would attend. We also gave him one of those one use cameras and $$ for developing and asked him to take pictures of his family and school to share with us next time and we will add it to the book. Kinda like we are merging our tow worlds in one picture book. Well thats the idea anyway. His family, teachers and therapists are all aware and helping him with the project.

Congrats and many blessings

It has been a long time since I have posted. DH and I are waiting (and waiting and waiting....) for our first placement. We are hoping for 1 or 2 under 4 of any race (well as long as 1 is under 4). We have had 4 possibles so far--and none are ruled out yet. 1st one was a baby girl already in foster looking to move her to a home wanting to adopt --we did not yet have our liscense, but we were speeding it along. birthmom started doing better so they decided to not move her yet, but they pick us is birthmom starts doing bad again. Next one was an emergency placement of 2 & 4yr old boys from a family of 6 siblings. My agency called me on it and in the meantime CYS found another home. Next one was a baby girl just last week. 3 other siblings in foster care and she is a little behind developmentally. They decided to temporarily put her in sibs foster home to test her to see if it is neglect or something else (2 other sibs have autism). Now we are waiting to hear about another toddler girl. She is in kinship now, but aunt is preggo and doesn't think she can continue kinship. Our agency's meeting with the county has been delayed 2 times now and I just know they will want to interview us this Wed. , because DH will be out of town. It has really been a roller coaster! I am just kind of frustrated right now. I know I will snap out of it, but ARGGHHHH!! We have no kids and I just can't wait for the day! Here I am getting frustrated and it has only been 6 months LOL. Thanks for letting me vent. I feel a little better now I hope we all get that soon!!

bettynme - what a great idea. Hope your transition goes smoothly.

lostinpa - I am totally with you. We have been waiting for a placement for fost/adopt for 5 months (after waiting 2 years for domestic infant). Our homestudy has been submitted 6 times and nothing yet. Some of them have had our homestudy for months though and have not made a decision. I keep telling myself it just takes one phone call! Good luck to you.

We found out today that we were not selected for 2 different sib sets. For one of them we have been waiting for 3 months to find out. The other one was a couple of weeks. Our homestudy has been sent out for 2 more sib sets though. It is hard to not get discouraged sometimes. We have been aproved for almost 5 months. Our worker said that barely any one waits more than 6 months. I feel like we will be the ones that wait like a year. Our homestudy has gone out about 10 times. I can't wait to be able to say that this was all worth it.
