To pass my time I have been making "lifebooks". They are so cute and it is somethind that I am actually good at. In the process of doing this, I have also half way taken up scrapbooking. Both are good ways to pass time.
We have both of our rooms completed. I even have a pretty good collection of clothes that I have collected from craigslist and freecycle.

I spend alot of time online too... I have really enjoyed the great advice I have learned on this website.

I also use graigs list for toys and misc items and love it. In all honesty, I have not purchased clothes yet. I am wondering if I should get basics. But we are trying for two under two with no gender preference....

Here's an idea I thought of after my son came (too late to use it!): why not create two or three registry lists at Target or Wal-Mart? You could do one for girls and one for boys, or one for infants and one for toddlers. Then, when you're notified of a placement, you just have to order up all the stuff and you're done.

As for putting up the beds, why not wait until you get the call?

Hi Everyone. You can add another waiting to be matched to your list. How long as everyone been waiting? Hubby has been having a harder time with the wait then me. LOL.

Happy Monday everyone! It is going to be a great week!

I keep a 2 and 4 year old during the week, so that helps me pass the time. But still sometimes I get anxious.

BTW - I really love freecycle too, because hence the name - everything is FREE! I received a very nice car seat on there.

Re

We have not started our PRIDE classes yet so I am really in the beginning stages. We start them in April.
As far as passing the time, well I'm finishing up college and getting ready to start graduate school next fall, so that keeps me busy and I am going to start homeschooling my daughter for kindergarten in August. Taking online classes is a great way to kill the wait game
Right now I am trying to clean out closets, and we are planning on having a yard sale this spring and we are going to finish our attic (not a big project). My daughter is currently in preschool so I'm a little busy with that 3 days a week, and I'm fairly active in the church.

This is an excellent thread.

Doing a baby registry is a great idea. With the help of a friend, I threw myself a baby shower my first go round with fost/adopt. My placement was going to be my first child so I thought why not have a shower. I had requested a baby under 1. I registered for items for children 3 months to a year. I got a bit of everything gender neutral clothes for six months and up, blankets. gift cards, books, blankets, safety items for the house, crib sheets, and did I mention blankets.

It was great to have some things to start off with. Of course, my son was five-days-old when he came home so I still had to go out within the first few days and stock up on smaller size baby clothes. For some reason, I never imagined I would get a newborn even though I had told my SW AYAP. I always imagined getting say a three-month-old. Maybe that was because my first respite placement was for a three-month-old boy.

Our history -

Licensed through private agency: Oct 31, 2004 (requesting baby under 1, open to race and gender)

Placement: Dec 30, 2004

10AM - got the call - got to bring back in all the shower gifts in from the garage that I just put out there

12:45PM - Jory's home at five-days-old

Finalization: Aug 1, 2006 - 19 months and 2 days after he was placed in my arms

Sept 2006 - submitted new adoption application (requesting baby girl under 10 months)

Dec 15 - get a call for a two-day-old girl I happily say yes

Dec 21 - Sasha comes home at eight-days-old

Feb 2007 - distant relative in another state wants to adopt Sasha & bio half-brother's adoptive parents want to adopt her too

Frida, I hope you hear something soon. I think the "waiting to hear back" is horrible. I sooooo wish the system could be a little easier! But, I know they have to find the best family possible for the child. And that takes time. And while I think we are a great family, I'm sure there are 10000 out there better than us. But I keep hoping and praying. It will happen one of these days.....

As to what to do with the wait. When I get really bored (usually after the kids and DH are in bed) I rearrange the room. I think I have rearranged it about once a week for the last 3 months! Little neurotic, I know!

We got a call!!!!!!!

I just wanted to let everyone know on this thread first, that we got a placement call today. It is just a foster placement, but that's OK. She is 2 weeks old and was a month premature. I will probably be a nervous wreck because both my boys were over 9lbs at birth. We will get her before noon tomorrow.
