Hi all. Still waiting. No calls. I'm so bored. I have a room full of kid stuff and no kid to use them. This part is more frustrating than all the prep/classes before liscensing.

Hang in there all.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words. I kept busy with the girls and hubby all weekend. They are all off to school and work now, so the negative thinking has begun!!! Today the family that was chosen is going in for the full presentation and I am dreading when we go to our next support group meeting that they will be there with these two baby's in tow!!! I don't know if I will be able to handle it. We are back to square one. The kids we wanted and the one we turned down were the only situations she had in mind for us.

How long has it been?

It has been almost 8 weeks since we even got a call. We are in Texas and are F/A. I think I need to start calling people and bugging them, but I don't know who that is.

Shy i'm so sorry to hear you werent chosen. Dont second guess turning down the first child, it must have been for a reason. I'm having a negative day today too. I know it gets old hearing our kids arent ready for us yet even if it is true. I was reading updates from the Tx. Leg. meetings that foster kids are sleeping in hotel rooms and offices and they say they have no where for the kids to go...yes they do!!! At the moment I cant even get my agency to return a phone call or an email. Ugh!!

Single and waiting......

I am so excited to have found this site and thread....I think I have spent more time online since I started this process than I ever have before!!

I started the process in November '06 and the agency rushed me through everything - I was done with all requirements by March '07 but have spent the past two weeks with no word. I don't even know if I am approved, though everything my recruiter had to say was very positive. She told me who my caseworker would be, but I haven't heard from her.

How long is the wait, in general? I am open to a sibling group (though only approved for up to 2 children) and don't care about race - am open to kids aged 0-10.

Also - I have 3 dogs....dobie, retriever and terrier. The recruiter met them during the homestudy and was impressed with their friendliness, but I worry that it may prove a barrier. I won't give up my dogs (unless they proved to be a problem with a child placed with me)....do you see this as a possible issue?

sdiedre,

I haven't heard of anyone's dog being a problem, especially if it wasn't brought up during your homestudy as a negative.

At my agency, I was paired with a matcher, who became my go to person. I would call her every so often, if I hadn't heard from her in a while just to touch base.

Best of luck,

Yash

Hi Everyone,

Can I join this thread? DH and I found out tonight that we are ready to go in our state (VA). That's about 4 months earlier than we expected. We've been emergency FC parents for 6 years, and recently had a placement of 3 Spanish speaking kiddos (that gave us 5 kids ages 5 and under at home). When those kids were RU, our CW asked if we'd become a resource family (the term used for all families in our county...foster, foster adopt, adopt, etc.). I said that we'd love to be considered for a little girl 0-3, but would be open to straight foster any child who needs us. We set up a meeting for tonight to answer questions and set up addl training, but our CW fast tracked and approved us based on her experience with the three little ones and our file. So, she said we could expect a call any time. She said about half of her placements are moving to TPR lately, and of those, most move before one year. She believes we'll be placed with a child in 30 days. That sounds different that what most of your experiences have been, so we'll see how it actually plays out. Anyway, I am a little shell shocked, and am trying to think about setting up a room, etc. I've enjoyed "meeting" you on this thread, and appreciate your combined experience. Here's to happy kiddos!

We are back to waiting! My fd J left on Friday and we are resting, cleaning out winter clothes, and listening for the phone again! We're hoping for a baby soon.

It is great to be able to share this frustration and (eventually excitement and joy) with others.

Tina

Tina - welcome back

Danessa - Glad you could join us

Is it just me or are there a whole lot of us wanting girls? I want a girl or girls between 6mo and 7yrs, preferably less than 5yrs.

No news here.....we are just trying to finish up the last bit of our paperwork that goes in our file w/ our homestudy....Our sw said she would have our homestudy updated by May 1st but I have yet to receive an email.....ugghhhh I know I still have a week, but I am anxious!

We stated we didn't care either for the sex, however since this might be our last adoption we would love a girl but are definetly open to boys since we already have two!

Our oldest said the cutest thing to his lil brother this morning...we were in the car on the way to school and the 2 1/2 yr old said something about having a sister and my 5 1/2 yr old responded with "You don't have a sister yet!" I wanted to respond with "At this rate, you never will either" LOL

Hopefully this is a week of at least someone getting a call or placement!
