Just wondering if anyone has adopted a child that has had sibling that were already adopted by fostering or adoption. Seems from what I hear they will send a letter to the family that adopted the sibling in the past and if they are interested they can apply. That seems that would take a while? Any thoughts.?

I haven't personally done it, but it happened with a friends foster child. The social workers called the older child's family, it took less then a week.

How long did they have the foster child for before they moved the child?

We found out that dd's brother needed a new adoptive placement, and we considered whether we could take that on, as did the adoptive parents of another of her siblings. We both decided we could not, but DSS never even called or wrote to us to see if we were interested! I wouldn't assume that that family will be able/willing to take the sibling. I would keep on the CW's to get back to you after they find out.

The family who adopted our son's sister was asked if they would take Bug in, but they felt that it would be too much for them. So, he ended up just staying put! Eventually it was not the foster parents, but hteir daughter that ended up adopting her. I have no idea how that worked as they are in another county all together.

We adopted two of four siblings - the two youngest. The older two are still in foster care - in a foster home, not a foster-to-adopt home. We've considered taking them, but due to their needs we know we aren't the best parents for them.

My son has siblings in three other homes. A sister adopted in another state. So the state would not move him until after termination. This worried us for a long time, until our sw said our 18 month bond (to an 18 month old) was to important. The next two boys after my son, we were asked to take, but it was to much for us. When the two came into care our Ason was turning 2 years that week, the next boy was 11 months, and the last one was two days(and 3 weeks preemie). So the next two went to another local foster home that has now Adopted them. Then about three months ago baby boy number 4 came into care. Neither the other foster home or us was even asked about this child. I am still trying to find out why we were never asked for placement.
