We have 3 bio children and currently 2 foster at home, I also have 3 older stepchildren that are over 19 and on their own. We want to adopt an under 2yo. I took the first call I got and they are going for RU. I will change in the computer that we only want to foster to adopt under 2yo. and have to be stronger when called for a placement that is not going to meet our goals.
We have secondary infertility and used IVF to get our youngest little one (2yo). We are told that we can't get pg without medical intervention. I was late last month and swore that I was pg, although I was not. I was just wondering if that were to really happen would it effect any placements that we might have at that time to go to adoption? If I was pg would I still get calls? I have gotten pg on our own after 5 years of trying only to have a miscarriage and that's when we chose to do the IVF. YOu may have read that we got into the system by making ourselves available for a distant relative whose kids went into fc and they were eventually adopted by the fp who had them for a year. Our original plan was to use the remaining frozen embryos that we have to try for another pregnancy and when I found out about all the kids who are in the system we put those plans on hold to try to adopt an infant. I am now having strong feelings about the frozen embryos (since being late last month) and I have all kinds of emotions going on about what to do. I know that they are only cells but I have a picture of some cells just like them that is now my beautiful 2yo. Ok, I know that you will all have opinions about the IVF and frozen embies but my main question is about being pg while doing fc and adoption. I am soon to be 36 and I think if I don't use them soon it will be too late. They may not even be viable after unthaw but we might try. I feel like I am being greedy and wanting all the babies if I was pg and still trying to adopt. What would the workers think?? ![]() |

Being pregnant shouldn't effect your foster/adoption standings. What will be checked out is your available space in home for the children in your care, and whether or not you'll be up to it! Technically, you shouldn't even have to tell about your pregnancy until after the baby is born, then you'd need to add the baby to your homestudy.
Good luck! PS- I'm looking for children to adopt. We are in Arizona. |

I was told, that it would only affect licensing stuff. Like having 2 under 2, or how many placements you would be allowed such as if you are licensed for 2 and you have another child you can assume you would only afterwards be licensed for 1.
The one thing they really worry about is if you have a current foster child, and then have another one of your own that you would less willing to continue caring for the foster child if things became hard. They would try to avoid that at all costs, particularly when regrarding little one who will need a lot of attention. Good Luck!
