Can you guys answer this?

How does it work after this?
Can anyone give me the goods on how things work after your homestudy has been sent to the agency with custody of a child you are interested in adopting? We had our homestudy sent out yesterday, and this is our first time doing that. Normally we have been under the pretense that we help whatever foster children are in our home and whatever happens after that is purely up to fate. This time there is a boy a couple of counties away whose profile reads just like a child that might be ideal for our family. We thought we would send in our homestudy and see what happened. When I spoke with his caseworker she said once she got the study we could see his history that she had been working on typing up. So what happens then? Any ideas? Thanks for your advice!

Well, I can only speak for my county as all agencies handle things a differently.

Once a homestudy eas received and the cw determines that the child may be a match for the family, a more detailed child inventory study is sent out. This is will idealloy contain enough information about the child to allow the potential family to determine if they want to pursue the child. If they do, the their homestudy, along with the homestudies of other fmailies who are interested are collected for review. They usually narrow it down to 3-5 families who them go to committee. The committe makes the final decision on placement. Our son's committee was made up of his worker, his worker's supervisor, his foster family, his GAL and another worker from the agency adoptions department.

I hope this helps.

Blessings,
Jenny
