Waiting in Texas

Hi!! I'm new on here but my husband and I live in Texas (Houston area) and have just completed our homestudy and are waiting patiently to be become parents. We are hoping for an infant and we also said we would take a sibling group. Can anyone out there who has been through this give us any idea of how long a wait we are going to have? We just completed our homestudy Monday and I am already anxious. My husband and I are both teachers and I would love to have a child placed with us while we are still on summer break.

I'm not sure about TX, but here in CA. I had a possible fost/adopt placement less than a month after I was certified. That placement didn't work out. A month after that I got a call about a five day old infant boy. My son is now 18 months old and we're waiting for a court date to finalize, hopefully before the end of July.

I was told the more open you are to race and sex, the faster you get a placement.

Best of luck,

Yash

I'm a teacher in Colorado. I was certified last summer at the beginning of June. I received my fs with 5 weeks to go before school started. He was 6 days old. I took him home from the hospital. Now I should be able to adopt him in early August. I was certified before ant received a placement within a month with a 3 month old.

It is difficult to be patient, but hang in there. Take the placement that is right for you. God has a child in mind for you.

I was licensed on the 29th of September in 2004 and got my first call the next day for a 4-month-old girl. And everytime I have had an opening I've gotten a call. I've now had 6 kids (some for awhile--1 stayed for 8 months, I have another who is currently with me after 4 months and counting). And I'm adopting my 3rd foster child who has been with me almost 1.5 years.

Even when I was full (I'm licensed for 2) I would still get calls...it doesn't seem to take long for your name to get on the list to be called. My age range is 0-5 years...

Good luck,
Marsha

My Husband and I are in Texas. We just finished all our classes on the 24th- we arent even technically licensed yet.... a paper work issues only. We got a call yesterday for 2 children ( amost 3 year old boy, 4 year old girl- both in our prefered age group). We are hopeing to have them come home July 15-17th ( we are foster adoption, not foster)

Red face

Hi, We were licensed in January and had an emergency permanent placement in May. We had the tpr a couple weeks ago and last visit with family monday. It seemed like we were waiting forever but now it is like a whirlwind. We are in Austin by the way.
