Question Stipend after adoption questions

For those who are recieving a stipend after adoption

Are you required to do any paperwork to recieve your stipend?

I was just advised that I will need to file a Monthly invoice to recieve our stipend

I think if I can present other options that other counties /states are doing I may be able to get it changed (at least I hope so - I am horrible with paperwork!)

Diane

Diane...I have to fill out a monthly form, but it's not a big deal...just a page.

As far as I know, they require this monthly form to be submitted as proof that the child is actually living with you. Meaning proof that you've stated the child is living with you and if they find out that's not true, then they have you for fraud etc.

I don't know about your state, but my ppwk, is just a 1 page thing and takes 2 min. to complete.

We are adopting our little guy on Monday. They explained to us we also have to fill out a statement every month. Its just one paper with the amount on it and we just sign and send it back.

I'm not thrilled with paperwork either, while my daughter was still in fostercare the monthly visit by the caseworker or social worker would be my opportunity to turn the form in (late). I can do paperwork while someone is sitting there waiting for it!

After the adoption the only way I can get the money is submitting the form, so I have tried to get it done on time, and what really helped is when the county sent out a letter to everyone pointing out that it could be faxed. So now I fax it.

I NEVER got any reimbursement for mileage because the effort to do the paperwork was too hard. Just like I never get reimbursed at my job for buying boring work-related books because I'd have to figure out how to submit the request for reimbursement.

My taxes are never done early and usually I submit a request for an extension (and only the threat of fines/jail motivate me to file the extension paperwork).

But the adoption subsidy monthly statement is relatively pain-free. I just have to fill out three fields (and the social worker told me I can just fill out the first two if the third one is too much for me, ha!) and sign.

I have a suggestion - can you fill out one form (expcept the date and signature areas) and photo copy about twelve of these (one a month for a year). Then every month, you would just have to put the date on them and sign them. Would this be legal?

Just a thought!!!

I have asked if it can be faxed, and if it can I plan to scan it into the computer and just change the date and fax it

We're not quite there yet, but I thought you didn't have to do anything.. hmmm. Maybe the rules are different from state to state and county to county?

You know forgot to mention this. Our statement comes filled out already. We just verify everything is correct and sign it and mail it back. It just basically saying we still agree with the amount being sent.

We live in Cali and we only have to do the paperwork every two years. The check comes on the first of every month.

Diane,
We have 2 girls adopted through PA foster care from different counties. Lehigh county automatically sends payment monthly with no action on my part, Montgomery county requires me to fill out an "invoice" and mail it to them monthly. It seems each county in the state does things a little differently. Funny thing is that the Montgomery county adoption was 1000 times easier to get to finalization than the one from Lehigh county!!!

No paperwork here in OR. I was told that we should recieve something by mail once a year to varify the amount is still sufficient, but I've never gotten that. I'd never even heard of submitting something monthly.

We have an annual paper that we need to have notorized and send back to DCFS. It just states that we still have physical custody of our child, that we are still living at our address, and that our family circumstances have not changed. It's very easy.

We're like lovemy6, ours is deposited on the 15th, we get an annual paper to sign, get notorized and sent back.
