We are foster parents in San Antonio, Texas. We are adopting our second placement. We have had him since he was 1 month old. He is now 3. Long story which I won't go into. Anyway, I have read about pre-adoption physicals. He is fetal alcohol and very small for his age. His speech is somewhat understandable on a good day. His social skills are somewhat behind. I am working on the adoption subsidy and have read about pre-adoption physicals. According to his worker in the adoption unit, even though he was born positive to drugs and has been diagnosed fetal alcohol and failure to thrive, we need more documentation! That's not enough.
His gastro doctor up and left his practice and our little guy's medical records cannot be located. To get an appointment with the gastro doctor, of which there is only one in San Antonio that accepts Medicaid, will be close to a year for an appointment. We were informed at a conference that you can have pre-adoption physicals performed to attach to your adoption subsidy. I don't know where to start the search to find this. Has anyone ever had this done before an adoption? I'm at a loss. Matthew's Mom As Matthew says..."you've got to play" |

it sounds like you may need something more than a pre-adoptive physical. ironically, i just got my kids forms faxed to me today. my son (4) and my foster daughter (1) and myself all need preadoptive phyisicals. they have nothing to do with subsidy though. they are part of the adoption process. however, in my state, all foster children are considered eligable for subsidy. what it sounds like you need is documentation of your son's special needs that would qualify him for subsidy.
