Help!
I have a foster daughter that we're getting ready to adopt. She has all kinds of behavioral / social / emotional issues due to prenatal drug / alcohol exposure. Her Pediatrician, therapist, and neurologist have all given letters of recommendation for this child to be seen by a child psychiatrist. However, in our state, Medicaid will not cover a psychiatrist if the child is under the age of 3. I have requested Children's Division pay for it because this child needs it. I love her so much and it breaks my heart to see her going through so much up and down with her emotional state and moodiness. Right at this time, I feel overwhelmed and like no one is listening to us. This child has been very difficult to parent and I feel that we have zero support so I'm turning to this forum in hopes that someone can give me words of encouragement. As time draws near to be able to file for adoption, I am filled with all kinds of fears and anxiety at the thought of parenting this child for the rest of our lives. We love her and have had her since birth but it is so scary. And, yes, I think I'm a little peeved that her biomom did all these things to her and the baby (and us) are the ones having to pay the cost.
Does anyone out there understand what I'm feeling? |

DO NOT LEGALIZE HER until all the services are in place. If medicaid wont cover the costs, then its their job to.
I am so sorry this happening to you as it has happened to alot of us. check out the special needs section of this forum, you will find alot of us that have kids with behaviors like yours and they maybe able to guide you more. just know that you are not alone...your words spoke volumes to alot of us out here |

How close is she to turning three? Can you go through an Early Intervention program that is recommended by the state?

She receives services from Early Intervention Services. She's been dismissed from OT & Speech. I don't know where else to turn to. I am so frustrated and scared out of my mind. I can't hardly even think straight and it's effecting my work and my emotional state. I've got to get some help for this child and it's racking my brain!
