limit on interest?
I am looking to adopt a child through the state and my homestudy has been complete for about 6 months now. I'm not interested in fostering first. My worker has forwarded profiles of a few children to me, but nothing's worked out so far. I've been pretty diligent about checking websites and forwarding her the information on children I'm interested in, always asking what I need to do next. Over the past week I've found 4 children that way.
Yesterday she sent me an email stating that she's having to limit her families to being interested in 2 children at a time right now. Is this typical? I'm disappointed, because I've gotten very little response back on any of the children I've expressed interest in, sometimes hearing nothing. Just wondering if this was the standard. Thanks for any thoughts! dawn |

I have heard of this before, but I don't agree with it.
Ask if you can have copy of your homestudy to forward yourself, or look into getting another social worker. Diane

Wow, I'm doing the same thing with our adoption but my worker has always said to let her know on any and all children because you never know what will click..like sending out resume's for a job.
I'm using a private agency to adopt through the state maybe that's the difference. Good luck to you. |

I had sort of the same theory as you, Robbiesmom. I guess the state has a different one.

Dawn, on our state website it gives info for contacting the CHILD'S social worker. That is the direction I have taken and have recieved a positive response. You might try that instead of waiting for your social worker.
