Advice please!
Jordan's social worker called this morning. Yes indeed the guy in Montana has been calling. He's hired a lawyer even. His parents are anxious to know the results as this would be their first grandchild. He's in his early 20's and is a traveling nurse. He is willing to come here for the dna test and is looking into employment in Pennsylvania. Hmmm.
So I say let him come. I told her I'd like very much for him to come to my home and see him here. That wouldn't happen of course until paternity is established. She was very friendly on the phone and I was equally as friendly and upbeat. I am NOT going to let this upset me. I think the blessing for peace the priest gave me on Sunday must be working We have decided not to retain the atty locally until we find out if he's the father. Is this smart? I mean why pay $1,000 retainer if he's not??? But if he moves here that means the interstate compact will no longer apply and things will move much faster. I thought about it and called her back and left a message asking if she would be willing to tell the guy that we would like to adopt him. Ray doesn't think this is wise to do until AFTER the paternity test. My thoughts are let him get this in his head now and be thinking about it and talking about it with his parents. Ray thinks it will make him push things along and we dont have a prayer if he's not with us 6 months at least. i just don't know. So we'll see if she is willing to talk to him about us. Would we have a chance anyway if we hired the atty and fought to keep him? Would the judge give him to a single man that travels for his work? So much to think about and so many questions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! |

Luann,
I'm new to this but if possible, I would arrange a meeting through your cw and make it in a location convenient and available at the case worker's descretion. I would also make sure these visits are supervised by the case worker. I see time has gone by since you posted...keep us posted on what is happening with you, Ray and Jordan....thoughts and prayers area with you. Pat |
