Last week our social worker got a call from someone in Montana claiming to be Jordan's father, and stating that the man listed on his birth certificate is NOT the biological father. Since the man listed on his birth certificate is in hiding, his rights would have been terminated in January for abandonment. Now this guy appears out of the woodwork and says he wants the baby who he has never layed eyes on.
Our case worker invited him to fly to Pennsylvania to get a paternity test done. They informed him that he would also be required to contact his local DHSS office and complete a homestudy to prove he can provide a stable home for Jordan. He is apparently a traveling nurse and isn't home much. He stated that the mom called him and told him she no longer had the baby and that the man on the birth certificate did..which isn't true. Social services thinks it may be a hoax for the mom to try to get the baby back herself and they haven't heard back from him since his initial call. We just got this news Friday. I was a mess all weekend. I just can't imagine having to let him go. I'll die..Simply die. They were SO confident there would be no problems. Now this. I know that it is out of my hands and there is nothing that I can do....except pray. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. |

Our thoughts are with you.....
I hope they are right and it turns out to be a non-issue.
It is so hard to wait and wonder, and have so many people and miles between you and the information you'll need to feel at ease again. I take it that the man on the birth certificate hasn't had a paternity test? Even if the traveling nurse does turn out to be the bio, maybe he won't pass a homestudy? And even if he is the bio, if he has no pre-existing relationship with the child, and hasn't turned up in all this time, maybe he won't impress the court enough to stop the tpr? I know it isn't as easy as saying "don't panic", but there are a lot of ways this could turn out that don't involve you losing your child--hang in there and keep us posted.

Oh,no.
Even more stress....I know on CSI dna results are almost instant, but I think in real life it can take a while--have they given you any idea how long it will take before the results are in?
Keep your chin up, it ain't over 'til it's over and there are still lots of ways for it to go your way.

I know of a fella in PA that did a DNA test to check if he's the bdad to a child in TN and the results were back in about a week. Hope that's the case for you.
Praying... |
