Update on Adopting Foster Teen

In May I'd posted that my husband and I were considering adopting a foster teen. Since then, we've been approved by an adoption agency and there has been a 13 year old boy identified as a possible match. My husband and I are very happy with our decision to proceed and appreciate the kind replies received about our initial posting.

zoealice ~ WOW ~ I think this is wonderful news. So many children age out of the Foster Care System and then have no one. Many end up homeless and eventually in prison. At 13 this boy needs love, guidance and a future. What a blessing that your husband and you will be there for him.

Blessings and Good Wishes to your new family!

Congratulations! Hope it all works out for you all. I admire so much people who can open their hearts and homes to teens..the kids who probably need it most. Best of luck with the transition and adjustment. If you haven't read them yet, some great books are Attaching in Adoption by Deborah Gray and A Child's Journey Through Placement by Vera Fahlberg.
