Can someone explain this to me...

Hello all, I am hoping that someone can shed some light on this for me. Long story short we were suppose to be moving and starting our third adoption, well the military at the last moment had different plans for us so we are remaining in WA. We had been foster parents and decided we wanted to do either foster adopt or straight adoption. Which gets me to my point. We have called numerous agencies. I am not understanding how one agency can charge a couple hundred dollars for the services provided and then another agency is charging several thousand. All the same services are being provided; homestudy, post placement, etc. The children available are all coming from the state so what is the big difference in the cost?

The difference is that the state or the parents place the child or5 children in the legal custody of that agency. Different agencies reimburse differently for foster care to foster parents. That is why I always recommend having the state do your homestudy and be listed with them finding out if that homestudy can be used for an placement out of state of thru a differnt agency should you find your child thru another resource. Straight out adoption is harder if your looking for the placement of a young or healthy child. Up to age 6 or so. I have adopted 2 times thru my state here in Nebraska and we did foster adopt since most kids adopted thru the state are adopted by their foster parents. Good Luck
